ACH (Automotive Components Holdings) is a temporary company formed by Ford in 2005 to sell or close a list of 17 Visteon plants. Four of those plants are located in Washtenaw County:

  • Ford has taken the Ford-Rawsonville Plant in Ypsilanti Township back from ACH.
  • Flex-N-Gate, an Urbana, Ill, company, is under contract to buy the Milan plant, which employs 600, and is negotiating with the UAW local there.
  • Johnson Controls has announced intent to purchase the Saline plant, which employs 1,350.
  • The Ypsilanti plant appears destined for closure at this point, with ACH intending to sell the property for redevelopment. ACH spokesperson Della DiPietro told the Ann Arbor Business Review that, "The plant is huge; all our plants are huge. There are not many prospective buyers in today's market . . . The building is very old," indicating against the chance of takeover by another manufacturer.

Saline firefighters responded to an alarm at the plant on East Michigan Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke inside the building, Fire Chief Craig Hoeft said.
