The new owner of the space has plans to turn it into a Mexican restaurant (AnnArbor.com, Oct 4, 2012).

"Keeping Ypsilanti Evil" for the last few decades, downtown Ypsi's Elbow Room features a wide variety of acts.
Scenes from the movie Whip It were filmed in the Elbow Room; folks like Ellen Page and Jimmy Fallon reportedly frequented the bar outside of filming as well, including karaoke appearances.

In the past few weeks, Juliette Lewis, Jimmy Fallon, Ellen Page, Drew Barrymore, Eve, and Alia Shawkat - she played Maeby on "Arrested Development" - have all been in the bar on South Washington Street in downtown Ypsilanti, and several of them have been there more than once, from what I've been told by Elbow Room regulars.
