First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor
The First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, a part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), is one of the largest Protestant congregations in the area, with over 2,000 members. The Church's mission "is to grow spiritually as disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship, mission, learning, and prayer."
First Presbyterian Church ("First Pres") is led by a staff of five ordained ministers, a music director, a director of children's ministries and a director of youth ministries. First Pres has a tradition of excellent preaching, dynamic worship, beautiful music, inspirational children's and youth programs, and a strong commitment to local and international mission. First Pres has an active and vibrant campus ministry program.
First Pres has three Sunday services at 8:30 am, 9:30 am, 11:15 am.

History
In 1826, the Presbyterians of Ann Arbor founded the "Presbyterian Society," the first church organization in the city. A year later, the First Presbyterian Church boasted 35 members and was planning its first building project: a small frame building at Huron Street at Division Street. The congregation built three structures on that site before selling the land in the 1936 to move to its current location at 1432 Washtenaw Ave.

In this 1870 view west on Huron Street, steeples had yet to be added to the First Presbyterian church at Division Street. In 1936 the church was demolished to make way for the Ann Arbor News Building.
