The decision to open an operation at U-M's ex-Pfizer property comes less than two months after Lycera struck a research agreement with pharmaceutical giant Merck that could be worth more than $300 million.

The chief executive of Lycera Corp., one of Michigan’s high-profile biotech start-ups, has left after less than a year on the job. Bill Sibold, a former Biogen Idec executive who was hired in January to lead Lycera, resigned to pursue other interests, Xconomy has confirmed. Gary Glick, the University of Michigan chemistry professor who founded Lycera in 2006, would not say whether Lycera has started to search for a replacement.
