Overview:

The nature area provides a great variety of habitats for native plants and animals. The site includes meadows, woodlands, wetlands, pond, and community garden.

Many trails are maintained in the woods.  There are ongoing efforts to control invasive species such as buckthorn.

 

Pioneer woods features variety of native trees, shrubs and wild flowers.

Spring wild flowers include large colonies of yellow trout lilies, wild geranium maculatum and mayapple and many others.

 

Woods change throughout the season - from spring blooms to rich summer foliage, to bright fall colors and variety of fungi.

 

 

Friends of Greenview and Pioneer Woods

The Friends of Greenview and Pioneer Woods established pollinator and edible plant demonstration gardens and planted trees. The organization also maintains trails, conducts meadow restoration and invasive plant management.

The Friends of Greenview and Pioneer Nature Areas is a 501(c)(3). We welcome donations to help support our activities including maintenance and restoration.
