In January 2017, the former Ugly Mug Cafe rebranded as "Cross Street Coffee." No change in ownership or operations drove the change, according to the owners, but a desire to separate the cafe's brand from numerous other "Ugly Mug" cafes in other towns.

From the Cross Street Cafe website:

Though born of a different name, Cross Street Coffee has been family owned and operated in Ypsilanti, MI for well over a decade. With our roots deeply planted in the character and history of our town, we felt welcomed obligation to pay tribute to our foundation. Our building housed one of the first gas stations in the county, then a Greyhound, and then a coffee shop. For nearly a century, the people behind our counter have been dedicated to getting you where you need to go, in one form or another. We've created Cross Street Coffee to help you traverse your day and we're happy to do so.

Coffee shop / art gallery / occasional music venue with patio. Provides free-wifi and roasts their own coffee. Both roasted and brewed coffee are available for purchase.
