USS Washtenaw County (LST-1166) was a Terrebonne Parish-class tank landing ship in commission in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1973. Named for Washtenaw County, Michigan, she was the only U.S. Navy vessel to bear the name.

In the news

Washtenaw County commissioners unanimously approved a resolution to provide space just outside the County Clerk’s Office for the historical display honoring the only U.S. Naval vessel bearing the county’s name.

“Operation Harbor” is an effort to upgrade and re-commemorate the large wooden case that displays historic items from the USS Washtenaw County. It includes a model of the ship built by Ann Arbor veteran Bill Prince, the ship’s wheel, decorative service awards and a 400-pound brass bell.
