An Ike's Place opened in the previous Firehouse Subs location. This local chain emphasizes creative sandwiches, similar to the approach of Beach Hut Deli or Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop. By default (unless you don't want them), all sandwiches include Ike's signature "dirty sauce" and lettuce and tomato and are served hot. Ike's has a large number of vegetarian options and vegan options too. Gluten free bread is available.
Owner Ike Shehadeh attended UC Davis, and has this on his Davis menu: “Hey Davis, I’m baaaack … Many of my sandwich recipes were concocted in my old apartment on J Street, and now I get to share them with you! The sandwiches (on the menu) below are my favorite at Ike’s. I also added a few exclusive just for UCD.”
