Malone Palladium, July 12, 1906

The Mountain Lodge Hotel at Santa Clara was destroyed by fire early on Thursday morning of last week. The origin of the fire, like that of several [re]cent fires which have occurred in that vicinity within the past few months, is a mystery, and incendiarism is strongly suspected. The hotel was owned by Mrs. ISABELLA HOWARD, of Piercefield, and was conducted by J. J. BOVA, of Malone. The property, which was quite a valuable others [sic] which had only recently undergone extensive repairs, was partially insured, but not sufficiently to cover the loss. Mr. BOVA carried $100 insurance on his furniture, but this will probably not cover the loss, although he saved a portion of his belongings.
