Soquel is a small census-designated place in Santa Cruz county, and is just north of Capitola. Soquel Drive runs through Soquel.

History

Soquel was founded in 1853. The name "Soquel" might be the native word for village or it might be the name of the village. No one is certain. The locals pronounce "Soquel" as "so-KELL."
