I am a graduate student at Eastern Michigan University, working on my MA in History. I have a BA in Sociology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. I grew up in Pleasant Ridge, MI, and have lived in various parts of Macomb and Oakland counties -- as well as a 2 1/2-year stint in Melbourne, Australia when I was younger, thanks to my dad moving there on business. I have lived in the Ypsilanti area for 4 years now, and have always loved the Ann Arbor area. I have enjoyed looking into the history of the places I encounter on an everyday basis ever since I was about 8 years old and was obsessed with a small, locally-printed book on the history of Pleasant Ridge, done in 1981 (before I was even born) by the PR Historical Society (which I can't imagine was very large.) I suppose I was always a ... different kind of child, and that's what led me to academics! I hope to one day receive my PhD, and to specialize in 20th century American cultural history & consumerism.
