Constantia mentioned on the Dutch America Forum, using her Dutch and US-based author/nickname "Sten," that she won the Green Card Lottery. However, it was her ex-husband who was the actual winner. The forum post stated that there were six winners out of 64 participants, specifically on that forum in 2011. It is important to note that there were many more participants in the Netherlands in 2009, the year when they made their "DV-2011" entry. In the lottery, one enters in year "A", and the outcome is in year "B". After winning, the mandatory year of immigration is either year "B" or "C". If one does not immigrate during those years, the Green Card will expire.
After living in the USA for five years and fulfilling tax obligations, one can choose to become a US citizen. Both Constantia and her ex-husband chose to do so.

Constantia obtained her teaching certificate for secondary education in German and Dutch in 1990. She earned her MA with honors in German Language and Literature from Utrecht University (The Netherlands) in 1993. For about 20 years, she resided in Utrecht (City, Central Netherlands), where she attended Utrecht University, ranked 72nd worldwide in 2019. She highly recommends Utrecht as the most beautiful and coziest city in The Netherlands. Constantia has also lived in Eindhoven-Woensel (South Netherlands), Groningen (City) (North Netherlands), Aalst-Waalre (South Netherlands), Dortmund (Germany), and at the seaside in Scheveningen (The Hague) (West Netherlands), which was her last location in The Netherlands.

Constantia has published five books on out-of-body (and near-death) experiences. Four of these books are in Dutch, and four of the books are written by Constantia herself. The fifth book is by the Austrian yogi, Alfred Ballabene.

In 2009, Constantia registered herself and her now ex-husband separately for the Green Card Lottery, following normal procedure to double their chances. She initiated and completed the registration, and her ex-husband was okay with it. His name was drawn, which had a probability of about 1.5-2%. Constantia had also registered both of them in 2008, but they were not successful until their second attempt.

Constantia and her ex-husband immigrated to the United States on October 4, 2011 (World Animal Day), and became US citizens on March 29, 2017. She is a vegan and an avid bird lover, currently residing in Davis - Ivy Town!, California, also known as "The Magic Sphere."

Constantia describes herself as "The Roaring and Soaring Skeptic". 🦁🦅

2014-01-15 23:23:50   Thanks for your comment. I'm not personally a hunter or a fan of it, but also don't feel like debating it with people who do hunt. So, maybe another page on the subject. But Duck Days is a great program and the Yolo Wildlife Basin is, IMO, primarily a conservation and education site. —DonShor

2014-06-11 13:14:10   You're right, just saying windy, really windy or breezy is too subjective. Wind speed is actually a nice quantifiable solution. Thanks CO. —jefftolentino

2014-06-11 16:43:37   Today actually seems windier to me. Was getting blown around a little on my lunchtime walk. I wonder where the wind gauge is. —jefftolentino

2014-06-11 16:47:02   The weather page I like is http://atm.ucdavis.edu/weather/uc-davis-weather-climate-station/JudithTruman

2014-06-24 19:47:57   No worries. It's a handy little thing. Glad I could help. —JabberWokky

2014-08-07 12:34:13   I really object to your deletion of "Second Chance Rotweiller Rescue's" page: their shut down is among the biggest news stories about Davis & environs in the past week. Please revert the deletion ASAP. Give people a chance to add information about this {scandal, important issue, mis-characterized organization} — I'm using the curly brackets to indicate that there are several possible interpretations of the situation. —DougWalter

  • I can't see that a page is empty when you delete it. I imagine you don't read The Enterprise or The Bee, or didn't see that they both had stories mentioning that particular group. However, that's why it was worth having a page, so that Davis and environs can be well-represented on DavisWiki. Now, as you say, to fill it up with useful &/or interesting materials.

  • Thank you for making the reversion and improving the page. As far as reading habits, of course, you should read what's of interest to you. I guess I'm suggesting that a modicum of local news reading helps one be an excellent DavisWiki editor, but that's an opinion :) "Your mileage may vary," as we fogeys like to say.

2014-08-14 10:21:27   There was another notice that they would be spraying last night, but I didn't spot them that time. —ToddKaiser

2014-09-02 20:53:27   That's a new error to me. And I'm pretty familiar with the various quirks of the system. Do you need one? I figured out a way to get one up and editable for you. I'm pretty sure I know what is happening, but I'm not sure why. —JabberWokky

2014-09-02 20:59:10   No worries... we're all in this together! —JabberWokky

2014-09-02 21:14:03   It has nothing to do with the browser. There's a similar error with certain types of formatted titles, and I'm pretty sure the system thinks the entry already exists, so it is not letting you recreate it. If it pops up again elsewhere, it's worth a look, but if it doesn't get fixed, just consider it a quirk that makes your profile page unique! —JabberWokky

2014-09-03 21:39:17   The gnome in the logo sits atop my bookshelf. And I just realized it had the Christmas/holiday theme for Davis Wiki installed. —JabberWokky

2014-09-03 22:07:20   Well, there's a pic of it as the logo. After that, I'll have to take a photo later, as the house is quiet now. Want a particular location for it? I can do it hidden in ivy, or on a small bridge... —JabberWokky

2014-09-06 21:22:15   A small group of people over at my home pointed out the gnome, so I printed out a sign and we posed for you with some other oddities from atop my bookshelves (the skull sits atop a massive leather bound Shakespeare, the gnome atop a copy of the Complete Gnomes, and the Barbie head is from my Rocky Horror collection, normally sporting a hat from the Broadway production and a pair of necklaces). We hope you enjoy the strangeness... —JabberWokky

2014-09-21 09:56:18   Hello friend, I see that you made a little "joke" on my page and then said you deleted it, (which you didn't) so I went ahead and deleted it. Please understand that this is my dream business that I have worked for over 12 years now to make a reality and it is my heart and soul. It is also how I support my family and I feel is my contribution to making this planet, our bodies and our community stronger and healthier and for lack of a better word, greener. So please, be kind with your edits and words and remember they can be hurtful and impactful in ways you were not aware. Blessings to you and yours, Jen (Owner of girlgonegreen skincare) —jwendt

2014-10-22 12:17:01   I don't think the /Talk page off of the MRAP page is necessary. That is what the comments section is for on the bottom of the main page. The /Talk pages are generally reserved for discussion of the page itself (what should be there, possible format changes, resolving arguments over content, etc.) —DavidGrundler

2014-10-22 13:24:48   No worries. I could have been a little more clear. —DavidGrundler

2014-10-23 23:44:14   There really isn't any such thing as a "comment section." That's purely your perspective. An image can't be displayed twice on the same page, which is probably what you're trying to do. If you really need it more than once, upload it again under a different name. —JabberWokky

2014-11-23 13:54:17   It's pretty much a rewrite. I backed off just to let other people have at it and get their voice out there. I'll edit it in the next 48 hours or so if nobody else does. —JabberWokky

December 26, 2014

Congratulations to (the work in progress of the) the Admin Masters of Change on Davis Wiki!! The new look and feel is astonishing!

Because I can't add comments in the usual way yet, I'm adding this comment manually on my own page. Thank you for all your hard work to make this happen.

I noticed my newest contributions to the 'Wind' page aren't included. Is this still to come, or do you want me to add them again (wind details December 24-26). I wonder if all the most recent changes - December 24 up til now - will still be added, or are they to be redone? Let me/us know if you find the time.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Constantia

2014-12-26 14:43:40   Hey, thanks for the tip-off about the comments not working! I had only tested it with administrators, oops. Should be working now, though! There were a couple of changes made over the past two days that didn't automatically transfer. I was just going to re-edit the pages in question by hand when I got a chance, but you're very welcome to beat me to it! —PhilipNeustrom

2015-02-17 18:50:55   Hi CO, what web browser and operating system do you see this in? —PhilipNeustrom Update: it should be now fixed.

2015-03-18 13:34:30   Testing own comment page —ConstantiaOomen

2015-03-18 15:57:34   Thanks for the help. I started programming in the 1960s so my intuition is dated at best. I did not use the comment feature much in the past because editing seemed just as easy. —SueHjerpe

2015-03-21 11:31:57   It is your imagination. I am probably making fewer edits, but I'm having a bit of a problem using the new software. I finally gave up on following RC as it works on the site (it is difficult to view changes directly from it), and instead use an RSS reader to follow changes. —JabberWokky

2015-03-22 01:04:08   Nope. Still as active. I am partially holding off to let others help shape the wiki, and follow their lead, rather than stepping on it. I helped create many of the early conventions, and the software update is a great opportunity to have others weigh in and change the wiki. I feel that things like how the community treats tags and other editing conventions should be developed collaboratively. —JabberWokky

2015-03-22 08:58:51   I find JW’s response to your concern really helpful. I am losing interest in the Davis Wiki since the software update and his approach encourages me to continue to watch and see where it goes. I appreciate all the work you and Elise have put in recently, but I miss the many editors who have disappeared or receded. I’ve even occasionally long for the return of the taxi wars. —SueHjerpe

2015-03-22 17:19:25   While I knew the software was coming someday, the sudden switchover caught me unaware as much as anybody else. It wasn't ever mentioned to me, nor was it announced on any Localwiki announcement feeds that I follow. —JabberWokky

2015-03-22 19:13:42   A little over a year ago I decided to focus on Davis Wiki and some other wikis I help out with (plus a different non-profit that needed help). Philip has always been the coder (along with Mike), and has been focusing on the Localwiki project for the last few years. That is part of the reason he was semi-absent for awhile on Wiki Spot: he was doing cool stuff with other cities, while I was heavily active here. That's also why Wiki Spot is being dropped, although there are people working to help save those wikis. That's an incomplete history, but it's a quick overview that answers your question. —JabberWokky

2015-03-22 19:16:13   I find myself continually struggling with the amount of spam that is drifting into the Wiki. I passionately dislike the IP-address logins; they make it difficult to tell what is a legitimate edit and what's just trash. —JudithTruman

2015-03-22 21:18:19   I very much agree about the problems with communication, and that factored into some of my decisions. And yes, I've been active on the wiki since 2004, basically from the start. I think I've been an admin since 2005. Many of the accepted norms that people say are "standard" amuse me, because I just started formatting things that way because I figured it looked good. When you invent the standard (and edited with others who invented the other "standards" in the same way), you're much less reverent toward demanding those be followed: it was just something we did because we needed to invent *something*. Some of it worked, some didn't. —JabberWokky

2015-03-26 22:49:03   I've been wondering how long it would take somebody to replace a comment macro with their comment. It kind of looks like that's what you're supposed to do when you're in Edit mode. —JabberWokky

2015-03-27 14:08:42   The comment thing is a known issue that hasn't gotten around to being fixed yet. Also BTW, we'll be removing the IP address thing (https://github.com/localwiki/localwiki/issues/747), but it's a bit tricky to get right. —PhilipNeustrom

2015-04-19 15:09:51   Thank you for the amazing Picnic Day pictures! For some reason, it's hard to get more than a couple of people to add Picnic Day pictures -- this has been pretty consistently true going all the way back to, like, 2007 :P —PhilipNeustrom

2015-04-20 15:07:43   I enjoyed your photos and your YouTube video. Thanks, Sue —SueHjerpe

2015-04-23 04:12:47   Hey Constantia, I just read your message to me. I am sorry what I did came off as inconsiderate and abrasive. I can see how it upset you. I think we might have differing opinions on the purpose of a wiki page. From my understanding over my years editing the wiki, a page and the entirety of a wiki is not so much about an individual's collection of photos of an event. I see the wiki as a resource that summarizes or categorizes events, people, and places in a more or less concise manner, unless images accompanying a page really show and/or necessitate diversity, as many pages do. I just don't see Picnic Day as one of those in terms of your uploads, as to me, many appear as just slightly different images of the same event, like with the Band-Uh performance. It's worth noting that if this came off to me this way, it's quite possible that others (who were not the biased author of the photos) might very well feel the same, and isn't that what really matters? What is perceived by the average wiki user? That said, I did not mean to slice up your contribution as if it meant nothing. I just perceived that perhaps you had trouble editing down your selection of photos, as the majority of them read "same" to me. The example you give re: Band-Uh conductors is, for me, the exact reason why I removed many involving those guys, as it was pretty much the same shot of Wellman, plus or minus a single person. I totally understand that one's photos are one's babies, in a sense. I totally respect that and I'm truly sorry that my actions did not reflect that. I knew while editing that whether I approached you first or simply took action we might have a point of conflict. Based on your reflections, I'm not sure how we can resolve this, as it is a pretty big point of disagreement: It comes down to the fundamentals of what a wiki's all about, as I mentioned earlier. Would you be open to minimizing the size of your photos and eliminating at least some of the repetitious images? I also truly believe that categories really present well and make all the aspects of Picnic Day very clear to the wiki reader, as opposed to what seems to me to be a mish-mosh; how might we amend this so both parties have some satisfaction? I really like that you opened up the floor to other users' photo uploads, though b ecause you yourself have so many images, I can see how others might feel it redundant/unnecessary to contribute any of theirs. Unlike a Tumblr page, I don't see the purpose of the wiki as a place to scroll through countless images, many of the same thing, only shot by different people. Can you see my point of view, even if you don't agree with it? Anyway, please accept my apology for dealing any insult to you. I hope we can change the page so both our viewpoints are somewhat honored. That's really the best solution I have to offer, and it will take some compromise on both sides, would you agree? —EliseKane

2015-04-23 04:40:26   p.s. To perhaps elucidate my point, I notice that the representation of Picnic Day for other years appeals more to my sensibilities and opinions in regard to a more discriminating, concise choice of photos. The organization of them needs major amendment, in my opinion, but the overall selection of images is much less repetitious. For example, check out Picnic Day 2005. Other years could use work, I'd agree, in terms of number of images presented, but I like that what IS presented for them are not repetitive in nature. That's really the crux of what I'm trying to communicate, hence I really hope you reconsider when it comes to so many images of the same event, or images that give no context whatesoever, like with the children or the dogs (notice, however, that I left categories and your images for those so as not to completely obliterate your enthusiasm for those subjects.) I won't again remove what you have currently because I don't wish to make this any kind of battle, so if you don't have it in your character to compromise, rest assured the page will remain as is. I just would see that as defeating the purpose of having multiple opinions shaping the look and organization of the wiki. —EliseKane

2015-06-07 23:21:26   Constantia, you recently edited the 'Referral Driving School' page and left a comment in the edit history suggesting that there were links to 'AP Driving'. Frankly, I have no idea what you're referring to: There never were, nor are, any links to AP. Perhaps you can explain what you were looking at or are referring to. Thank you! - BJ Sangwan —BJSangwan

2015-06-08 01:12:32   I still don't see any 'AP Driving' links. Why would there be any AP Driving links on the Referral Driving page? They are competitors! More to the point: How would there be AP Driving links? I don't see any AP edits on the Referral page. —BJSangwan

2015-06-08 01:35:01   Every time I've clicked on a link on the page it has gone to the appropriate page or URL. I'm not seeing whatever you're seeing. Besides, it doesn't make sense: How and where do these 'extraterrestrial' links come from, since there has been no sign of anyone editing the page other than five users, none of whom appear to have any association with AP. - BJSangwan —BJSangwan

2015-06-08 11:36:11   Constantia, for heaven's sake, please don't mess around unnecessarily with our page:Surely you've got better things to do! Referral Driving is IN Davis: see land-line phone number. Plus, I can meet you in 5 minutes anywhere in Davis. This is Referral's newest extension - right into Davis!!! - BJSangwan —BJSangwan

2015-07-06 15:16:06   Quickest is to log out and then type your username but no password, hit enter, then click "forgot password." —PhilipNeustrom

2015-07-06 17:06:05   My one piece of advice is to use a password manager. I recommend 1Password: https://agilebits.com/onepassword. Then you pick one very very difficult master password, and every website and app uses a random password you don't know. That way, if one site or app gets hacked, you don't end up in a bad place. —PhilipNeustrom

2015-08-13 15:14:11   I'm not sure you're a skeptic. —JabberWokky

2015-08-13 15:44:37   Constantia, consider the comment above for a second (it's a joke... I'm being skeptical of your assertion that you're a skeptic). And yes, I know formal skepticism well, I was just being silly. :-) I tend to be active in stocism circles, which has a fair amount of overlap. —JabberWokky

2015-08-13 15:57:06   Nope. —JabberWokky

2015-08-28 12:44:11   Hey I don't know you but I want to thank you for correcting a mistake I made by inadvertently deleting the Mystery Picture Page. I'm learning (not so well at the moment) how to navigate and hopefully not aggravate this Wiki. Will tread carefully when uploading images to Mystery Picture Page in the future. Thank you again for quickly catiching what freaked me out ( perhaps more than you, because I'd live with it the rest of my days if it couldn't be corrected). Thanks again. Aug 28 2015 —GlliB

2015-09-21 17:36:13   Been doin' fine! I'm active on the wiki, I just keep forgetting to log in. I removed the phone number change from Vevey, for instance. You're looking for Tragic Events; do a search and you'll find all those entries! —JabberWokky

2015-10-14 14:04:07   No problem! —JabberWokky

2016-02-22 19:52:40   Unfortunately, killing this most recent spam series is a little more difficult than usual. It's coming from a botnet of thousands servers, so it's difficult to block ahead of time. It's possible to block them all preemptively, but it'll take some time on our end. —PhilipNeustrom

2016-04-14 13:20:34   I've been meaning to document the current Mrak situation and protest. Just haven't gotten to it. Maybe this evening I can start and we can tag team work on it. —DavidGrundler

2016-11-09 17:24:49   Why don't you consider removing the "community alert" and adding it as the "featured page." Don't really think it is as important as a police action or some other critical alert, but probably does warrant some front page eyes. —DavidGrundler

2017-02-27 16:25:22   I note that the Pence Gallery article was in the Humor Columns section within the Aggie. Has this information been verified with the gallery? Does it show up in the Enterprise anywhere? I'd call the gallery myself, but it is closed today. I'd like to keep National Politics out of general townWiki, so I'm going to revert the Front Page for now. —JudithTruman

2017-09-28 22:55:10   Hi Constantia. I know that historic weather patterns are not necessarily those of the future. However, I can assure you that, before the drought set in, it was common for some to complain about the FOG in Davis in the winter. Once the sloughs & wetlands have a persistent amount of water, if fronts don't come through, winter dew points are often higher than the morning temperature. This results in fog forming everywhere in the Valley, especially around said sloughs and wetlands. Usually, the fog will burn off by 1 or 2 PM, and then dusk hits at 4:50 PM, and an office worker can miss every bit of sun for a week or two, or more. "Tule fog" is what this is often called; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tule_fog —DougWalter

2017-09-28 23:09:07   I don't really appreciate either of your weather observations. I was out on Sunday, June 11, 2017, during the strong thunderstorm, yet you call the period since May "uneventful." I would delete that whole paragraph, myself, because it seems pretentious and personal. But I'll wait and see if any other editors find it helpful or distracting. Maybe the Tule Fog has disappeared, but might you be a little premature in calling it "a thing of older days" on the basis of SIX WHOLE YEARS. At the same time, I'll agree that I'd guess it has been at least that long since there was a stretch like the kind I personally dread. Also, I thought that with the rains of last fall and winter we would see some, but more fronts came through every time I was concerned that the Tules would set in. —DougWalter

2017-09-28 23:12:27   For your enjoyment, an article and photos from February, 2013, of Tule Fog in Davis, CA https://orionmagazine.org/place/davis-california-7358/ —DougWalter

2018-08-22 12:43:08   It's not the first nekkid picture of ill intent, but I'll be durned if I can figure out how to permadelete it now. I did ban the account. —JabberWokky

2018-09-01 17:38:35   Sure - I'm always available. I'm still quietly active on the Wiki a few times a week, trying to stick to mostly technical edits, supporting the community I called home and still love. Most of the edits I would do are already done by the time I see them (which is a good thing!). If you're on Google Hangouts, you can message me whenever you need an admin. I tend to miss text messages for awhile. —JabberWokky

2018-11-02 20:15:19   Constantia: Wanted, Gnome or Alive! Did they actually say "Davis Sheriff's Department?" That amuses me, like when The Mentalist had that episode set in Davis and there was a Davis PD Homicide Division with a few full time officers. —JabberWokky

2018-11-12 16:31:26   whenever it's really windy I think of you & the update that is sure to be on the windy days page —StevenDaubert

2018-11-23 09:51:35   There is no "none" - we used to have two versions of the main page in the code, and comment appropriately as needed to switch between having a Community Alert and not having one. Basically, editing the Front Page is the best way to remove the Community Alert. —JabberWokky

2019-01-23 18:08:15   You can let the profile stay mucked up for a bit; I really don't care. Sarah and I were reading it aloud and laughing so hard we couldn't even finish it. Then Sarah said (in a devilish voice, and out trolling the troll), "Okay, *all* the rest is true, but seriously: you don't smell. You are the cleanest smelling person I know." Ha! —JabberWokky

2019-01-24 09:58:35   Check out https://localwiki.org/main/Tags. I saw "Optometrists" already existed in LocalWiki database and the other two tags are not reusable. —ToddGlenn

2019-01-24 14:14:24   A tag must be reusable or it serves no purpose and clogs the tag database. Most proper nouns like names or businesses are not be a good tag for that reason. A tag does not help you find a page in search results; it creates of group of similar pages. You can click the tag to see a list of pages and a map with everything tagged. Ideally all LocalWiki's will use the same tags for the same topic because you can also use the tag to see similar pages in other cities. —ToddGlenn

2019-02-28 17:04:40   Thank you for helping me edit my business page! —lchavez

2019-02-28 17:30:00   my page looks amazing! this was a headache for me, really appreciate your editing! —lchavez

2019-03-02 16:24:42   Sure. Sarah's leaving for California tomorrow morning, and it's her birthday today, so I'm spending time with her (she's out picking up food while I get a movie ready), so I can do that tomorrow with no problem, if you haven't done it by then. It's a little tricky, especially with a graphic (due to how the "new" wiki software handles images), but the basic links are pretty straightforward. —JabberWokky

2019-03-05 10:50:28   Hey Constantia (sorry that I misspelled your name in my earlier comment). Check out what I did to the two pages. I added a blurb about Clover to the end of the ECAC/Corona page, including a hyperlink to Clover's page. What do you think? —CameronM

2019-05-04 16:48:30   Just wondering, I noticed you added the comments plugin onto someone's user page, got interested, and tried to put it on my page, but it's not working, how do you make it work? —EzekielT

2019-05-27 23:26:30   So what you're saying is that the optometry entry doesn't look right? :D Next are you going to update it and ask, "A or B?" —JabberWokky

2019-06-03 05:58:37   Hi Constantia, I check the main space for spam every morning... there's always a couple or a dozen new ones. I'll be out of touch until Thursday. I notice you do a lot of spam deletion. Could you keep an eye on the main space for a few days? —MWanner

2019-06-05 13:06:30   Many thanks for filling in on the main space spam! And for fixing the Google photos link. —MWanner

2019-06-05 19:43:51   About fixing the link to my Google photos-- Oh, right. Changed to facebook photos. I'm not using Google+ anymore. —MWanner

2019-06-06 08:12:22   It's been a few years since I used Google for photos, so I'm not real sure, but I think they were all on Google+. No great loss. And I thought Comment boxes had gone away in the conversion from wikispot to localwiki. I noticed that Davis still had them-- I thought that was something they engineered for themselves using Advanced Wizzardry. I would love having comment boxes on ALL our wiki pages as we did before the switch. Anyway, thanks for the kind words about my photos! —MWanner

2019-06-11 21:43:00  Hey there, just curious why you removed the tag on this article? Seems to be the most common tag for neighborhoods. Cheers! —Tod Robbins

2019-06-25 11:58:52   Thanks for staying on top of mainspace spam-- I was out of touch for two days that was supposed to have been just one. Looks like you were busy! —MWanner

2019-06-25 19:12:48   I don't know, they ebb and flow for no apparent rhyme or reason. Strangest of all to me is that there is almost never any spam on Sundays! And I generally only disable repeat offenders or accounts with a spam link on the user page. And again, many thanks! It definitely feels good to have help! —MWanner

2019-06-29 07:26:58   I have deactivated the Davis Women in Business region as being clearly inappropriate. I leave it to the Davis community to decide whether the additions to the Davis pages are appropriate. —MWanner

2019-07-01 06:41:35   Spam on Sunday: The exception that proves the rule? (Whatever that means) —MWanner

2019-07-01 11:14:22   Yes, you never can tell with wavicles! —MWanner

2019-07-02 19:09:41   Yes, the mainspace spam is maddening! But consider this: if you made it impossible to spam the mainspace, they'd have to spread it out into the hundreds of other regions, where tracking it down would be that much harder. Be careful what you wish for! —MWanner

2019-07-03 08:09:51   They wouldn't worry about whether a region was “suitable,” they'd just stick it anywhere. They're not interested in reaching people who actually read the wiki, it's link-spam, search engine optimization: they need incoming links to their site. Anyway, I have suggested stuff like this in the past and found no interest at all. Basically our software seems to be pretty near static. —MWanner

2019-07-16 12:51:14   That was a very productive four minutes you spent this morning! Eight spam pages, gone! —MWanner

2019-07-21 14:11:08   "someone just created a Wiki sub for a business, not a place, and am I wrong to think this is not the purpose of the Davis Wiki? If we allow this, the Wiki becomes a whole new ball game" - ConstantiaOomen before she edits the Davis Wiki front page to promote a business she frequents —DavisWikiEditor530

2019-07-21 20:42:26   You could probably suggest some kind of compromise: maybe figure out how long it makes sense to be up, or have both in place for awhile, or something like that. Maybe even a "New in Davis" section on the Front Page. I'm pretty sure we used to have one that had things like new businesses and other things like that. —JabberWokky

2019-07-22 01:15:00   I keep getting an error whenever I edit the Front Page. Could you try? I changed "New in the Davis Wiki" to "New in Davis," as that seems to be something we don't have, whereas there are several ways to see what's new on the wiki. —JabberWokky

2019-07-23 21:50:47   Wanted Pages used to be automatically generated by the software. It showed all links that were made but didn't go to a current page. So you could write about Skydiving and ["Parachutes"] and then Parachutes would be "Wanted" until somebody made a page for it. —JabberWokky

2019-08-19 07:59:56   Wow! Bats! We haven't seen bats out here for several years. White nose syndrome wiped them out. :-( I wonder when they'll recover? —MWanner

2019-08-25 08:06:14   I'll be out of communication until Tuesday pm (camping). Of course since spamming has apparently completely ceased... (Wouldn't it be nice?) —MWanner

2019-08-29 07:47:56   Hi Constance, I'm sure LocalWiki benefits from your vigilance. For the record, I'm using this site and #mappain as part of a geography course at the University of Delaware.. https://localwiki.org/main/LocalWiki_in_an_Educational_Setting I got approval from LocalWiki before setting up this region because I didn't want to abuse the platform. They were quite excited. This semester I will be getting my students to contribute locations and explore resources in our area to deal with the Opioid crisis. There might be other entries that are strange to you, but I will be dealing with how to map and what to map in our lectures. Your patience is appreciated. Students learn by exploring! Also, as a cultural geographer, definitions regions and scale are huge debates in our discipline, if you want to talk more about it, let me know! Best, Paul http://www.paulsbjackson.com/ —pjack

2019-08-29 13:56:26   Constantia, it seems Phil Newstrom has OK'd the U. Del. course site on Pain Mapping, for this semester only. —MWanner

2019-09-15 18:27:51   Starting tomorrow morning about 10am Eastern Time, I will be away from civilization for three days-- going camping. Have fun bashing the spam! —MWanner

2019-09-19 01:06:18   It was a decent idea worth giving a shot. —JabberWokky

2019-09-19 19:44:54   Thanks, Constantia, and yes, I have deactivated that heroin-use region. —MWanner

2019-12-09 18:37:47   Oops! Glad you caught my screw up on the Davis front page! Thanks! —MWanner

2020-01-24 19:04:34   Toward the end of the day, I check the Wiki, and I always see your comments Spam on ____day. And lately I keep getting an earworm of this, even if it doesn't fit the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mYJn4J-r2U —JabberWokky

2020-02-25 01:42:26   If you're going to do something, might as well do your best. Applies to some spammers as well, I suppose. :) —JabberWokky

2020-02-29 02:23:12   We were having a late meal after playing games this evening, and a friend who works for the State of Tennessee got a text message saying that due to Davis, doctors were now being asked to test all patients for Covid-19. —JabberWokky

2021-01-28 13:14:01   Thanks! It certainly looks likely to be an improvement on last year, doesn't it? Let us hope! As for the spam, yes, it comes in waves. And thank you for being there when I am not! —MWanner

2021-06-14 15:15:13   And your comment in the email just solved why 95% of the time I was being logged out before I could edit. Thank you! —JabberWokky

2021-06-15 22:46:27   I still check in regularly. I've just been quite busy the last few years, and I couldn't figure out why I kept getting logged out. It turns out that it was the bookmark I was using. Which you pointed out, I believe. —JabberWokky

2021-09-10 08:00:39   Hi Constantia! How have you been? I remember you from before and admire your continued dedication to the wiki-sphere. I've noticed that many editors have given up. lol. I've checked in now and then but would like to be more active here. I have to do better to try to learn how to use the site though because I am more used to the old version. —ScottMeehleib

2022-10-20 04:11:09   Hi, I just want to know why did you deleted my account? —Kiara99

2022-10-20 04:46:42   We are experiencing extreme high volumes of spam, and sometimes, rarely, but it happens, good guys get deleted in the process. Your new page without any contributions looked like of on the many spam pages. Is that you on the photo? —ConstantiaOomen

2022-10-20 04:49:37   Addendum - You started as a user on Main. That is a red flag to administrators, because the lion share of all spam is started as such. If you are interested in Davis or are a Davis local, I suggest you make your page there. —ConstantiaOomen

2023-04-19 19:08:54   I am writing to inquire about the recent disabling of my account on your platform. I had spent two hours creating a wiki page for my organization, and when I attempted to access my account today to contribute to another topic, I discovered that it had been disabled. Could you please clarify the guidelines or terms that I am not following? I would like to understand why my account was disabled and request that, if necessary, you continue to do so, but I also would like to retrieve the content I created on the platform. I had spent a significant amount of time working on this page, and it would be very disappointing to lose that content. I would like to mention that I am an active contributor on various other platforms, including Google, and have been for the past 20 years. I am deeply invested in contributing to online communities and would appreciate your assistance in this matter. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your response. page i created was: Dandies Barbershop & Beard Stylist regards, Singh —privatecontributer

2023-07-02 00:46:31   I transferred the Dandies Barbershop page into the Mountain View Wiki because that is where the shop is located. The style preference is for pages to be housed on their host-town wikis rather than put into Local Wiki Main Page. (I'm now going to go fix my formatting error) -JudithTruman —JudithTruman
