"Who am I? What am I doing here?" - Admiral James Stockdale
A few years ago I discovered Davis Wiki, a local wiki dedicated to the City of Davis and UCD with thousands of articles, when I was referred to a building called the Death Star. Intrigued, I was disappointed to learn that Irvine and UCI didn't have a similar repository for less than scholarly information, such as the Science Library's striking resemblance to the female reproductive system when seen from the air.
Thus began Irvine Wiki in an attempt to encapsulate the essence of Irvine and in particular UCI. What do locals know about living in The O.C. (don't call it that)? How ubiquitous are bonfires at Corona del Mar? Where would be the perfect place to launch pumpkins from a trebuchet at UCI? These are questions we have all asked ourselves at one time or another and its about time for some answers.
2009-03-31 01:09:09 Hey, have you tried emailing the admin here, asking to be added to the admin list? —Evan 'JabberWokky' Edwards
2009-09-13 23:24:47 No problem. My aunt and uncle moved to Irvine a while ago and I think they are kind of part of the establishment, but I'm still interested in whats going on from the wiki point of view. —NickSchmalenberger
2010-08-13 09:06:04 Hey there, thanks for the welcome and the tips! You've done the community a great service by leading this wiki... I'm excited to contribute to it in the following years. Thankfully, I have an aunt and cousins in nearby Quail Hill, so I am a little familiar with the area, but living here on my own will be a whole new experience that I can't wait for! Thanks again :-) —AliPezeshkpour
2010-09-28 13:24:49 I think there might have been some confusion because there were two domain requests made at the same time. You haven't been forgotten, and I'll try to make sure IrvineWiki.org works like DavisWiki.org rather than just a forward. —JabberWokky
Update: Just got the sysadmin hat (or at least access to the tools needed to set your domain up). If nobody else does it, I'll take care of it this evening. I want to wait until I've got time to do it slowly and carefully (although it looks absolutely straightforward). -jw
No worries, I assumed that it was a communication error on my part. Thanks. - Mateo
2010-09-29 08:31:54 That's good because my wife and I spent all evening almost finishing putting together a bunch of furniture (we did a long distance move recently, and just got new furniture to replace stuff we left behind and/or fit the new rooms). I went to sleep without checking my task list, and forgot about it. I'll make sure to do it tonight. —JabberWokky
