Bouldering is a discipline of sport climbing, in which the climber is not belayed with harness and rope, but always stays very close to the ground (usually less than 4 meters). In a boulder-climbing-hall the ground is covered with a thick mattress in order to minimize the risks.

This makes it relatively easy for beginners to try out this new trend sport. You are obligated to attend a 20 minute security instructions briefing if you have not been bouldering before. Therefore the first time you go bouldering you will have to pay 14€ or 12€ for students and you need to call them in advance to ask when it is possible to have the briefing.

The Moove in Aachen is a boulder-climbing-club that was build in an old warehouse. There are about 300 different boulder-problems in all degrees of difficulty.

There is a shop, a little bistro and obviously changing rooms and showers. As a beginner, all you need to take with you is usual sportswear (nothing to expensive because it gets worn out easily) and trainers. If you want, you can borrow special climbing shoes for 2€ or a chalk-bag for 1€ (for sweaty hands).
