The University has a main campus in town but also a much larger campus, which is still under construction called Campus Melaten. RWTH Aachen also does research in Jülich in cooperation with the research center.

The "Uniklinikum" is the hospital affiliated to RWTH.

• female professors: are still underrepresented compared to male professors, however their number has steadily increased since 2006 until 2013from 6.1% to 14.6%
• funding (2013): over 800 mio. Euros, of which about 350 mio. Euros are state grant. The rest (more than half of the funding!) is external funding (mostly private funding by the industry)
• RWTH Aachen University is one of 11 universities in Germany which were awarded a special grant for its concept for the future as part of the "Exzellenzinitiative" of the federal government. These universities misleadingly are referred to as "Elite Universities" which is an overstatement, since these unversities are not necessarily much better than other universities or have especially good teaching environments.
