If you are a foreign student looking forward to doing a research internship at RWTH Aachen, you have to get in contact with an institute you are interested in and find a supervisor. The supervisor will accompany you during your stay in Davis and give you valuable feedback on your research.

You have to do research on the RWTH website to find the institutes which suit your interests.

Here you can find an overview over the faculties at RWTH Aachen University.

You should find out a research topic you are interested in and contact the researchers at the university in Aachen in the field(s) in which you are particularly interested in. They usually can give you the most precice information on research opportunities.

The RWTH recommends including a resume, a transcript of records of your home university and a brief letter of motivation (I personally would recommend writing a short and consise letter of motivation. After all someone has to read it and if it's too long, it's not unlikely that your letter will not be read at all... Half a page should be enough if you're just asking for information, when you're actually applying you should write 1-2 pages at most.) including the time frame you would like to visit for when contacting a researcher so he gets important background information right from the start. When you have found a researcher to supervise you in a research project at RWTH Aachen University, the institute will contact the responsible institutions at RWTH to prepare your stay and give you further instructions.

Corresponding funding opportunities can be found through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at https://www.daad.de/deutschland/stipendium/en/
