29/5/1865 John Allan ship owner and merchant 1 St John’s Villas, Lewisham Road, Deptford, Kent, died, of apoplexy, paralysis and softening of the brain, aged 74. Henry Harrison Allan of 6 Canterbury Villas, Thornton Heath, Croydon, was present at the death.
26/8/1866 Judith Allan widow of John Allan 1 St John’s Villas, Lewisham Road, Deptford, Kent, died, of cancer of the liver, gradual inanation and exhaustion, aged 74. Apparently, the couple had three sons, Charles Harrison Allan, Henry Harrison Allan and John Harrison Allan, all of 2 Leadenhall St, London. John Allan Senr was executor and trustee for Thomas Johnson master mariner of Arbour Tce, Commercial Road, Middlesex, but later of Bombay, East Indies, where he died 24/2/1847. The other executor and trustee, Thomas Chapman of Leadenhall St, London, had refused to act. The Allan Brothers appointed John Morphett Esquire Adelaide to act as attorney 12/12/1877. Land in Adelaide and in the Murray River Special Survey (Sections 14, 15, 16). Morphett had to sell the land. Johnson had bought the sections to run as a sheep station. His ship was called the Brig Seahorse. Personal property to Eliza Allan, the youngest daughter of John Allan. The executors to sell stocks and shares and real estate, for the children of Johnson’s sister, Isabella, the wife of Thomas Richard Batson banker of Newcastle on Tyne./1/1843.
