Hahndorf Community Association Inc. - AGM 2005

Minutes Of The Annual General Meeting Held At St. Michael's Church Hall, Balhannah Road, Hahndorf on Wednesday 2nd November 2005 at 7.30pm.

Opened:

By President Mrs. Ann Haines with a warm welcome to the 29 people attending.
This included – Guest Speaker Mr. Barry Wilkins and Mt. Barker Councilor, Mr. David Haines.

Apologies:

Rodney Allan, Lyndal Davidge and Russell Grivell.

Minutes of Previous AGM:

Were taken as read and confirmed.
Moved Mike. Hasler, Sec. David Haines. Carried.

Matters Arising:

President spoke on certain aspects of the walking trail and advised that brochures and signs will be available next year.

Reports:

President's Report:

Mrs. Ann Haines outlined the activities undertaken by the Association over the past year, particularly those relating to the development of the Concept Plan in Alec Johnston Park and the Main Street Master Plan, both in conjunction with the Mt. Barker Council and staff.
Moved Ann Haines, Sec. Thelma Heausler that the report be received. Carried.

Finance:

Mr. Eric Aliffe read the Treasurer’s Report on Association’s Finances.

General Business:

a. Thelma Heausler spoke on the opening of the Commemorative Fountain in Alec Johnston Park, and expressed concern that notification of the official opening was not widely circulated.
b. Tony Finnis asked whether the cracking damage to the Fountain glass was going to be rectified. David Haines advised that the matter would be addressed when it has settled down.
c. Management of the Hahndorf Resort advised that the grounds of the Resort are available for organized Community use.
d. Ann Haines briefly explained the involvement of the Iris Society in the Main Street streetscape.
e. Dry Zone: John Woodberry spoke on the formation and progress made by the Precinct Group over the past four years and the level of success that has been experienced. He also mentioned the various groups having ongoing involvement.
It was disappointing to hear that the reporting of incidents was not being encouraged by the Police on (ph.131444)

Election of Officers:

Councillor Mr. David Haines declared all positions vacant and called for nominations.
Member’s nominations were as follows: Mr. E. Aliffe, Mr. D. Canty, Mrs. R.Canty, Mr. L. Cremin, Mr. F. D’Arcy, Mrs. M. Gordon, Mr. R. Grivell, Mrs. A. Haines, Mr. D. Haines, Mrs. E. Hasler, Mr. M. Hasler, Mr. P. Houston, Mrs. S. Hunter, Mr. T. Jacobs, Mrs. M. Jacobs & Mr. J. Sims.
All nominations were accepted.
Officers will be elected from these members at the next General Meeting.

Guest Speaker:

Mr. Barry Wilkins, Manager Economic Development and Tourism, Mt. Barker Council, presented a comprehensive coverage of the Main Street Master Plan recently approved by the Council and supported by Heritage S.A. He spoke at length on the history of the Plan, the role of the groups involved, and the situation to date.
Barry also talked about the Queen’s Baton Relay involving runners from throughout S.A. and of the arrangements made for Hahndorf. The Baton will be arriving in the township on13.02.2006 and departing 14.02.2006 en route to Melbourne for the Commonwealth Games. There will be constant photographic and Media exposure of Hahndorf during this time.
