3. Minutes of Previous Meeting 13 March 2019:

Moved P. Houston, seconded M. Hasler – accepted. Chairperson, M. Kentish stressed the need to move forward in future meetings.

4. Business Arising

Beerenberg Old Barn tour –

Tour to be arranged, members to be advised.

Hahndorf Institute –

Public address system – ongoing investigation of options.

Promote the availability of the Institute in Village Voice

Jean and Eric have discussed the idea of holding a community lunch on a monthly basis

Limit numbers to 20 – 25

Liaise with local Pastors, local IGA and others.

Free, but need to book. Keep it simple.

David Leach advised that the Nairne community have started a ‘Nifty 50' lunch

Initial lunch had food supplied by Mt Barker Council

Aim to decrease social isolation of residents

Members to consider and review next meeting. Will need Working Group.

Letter from Harold to Chair Malcolm – for discussion under Township Plan

Letter to Dan Cregan, MP, congratulating him on the funding for The Cedars

Invitation received to attend a dinner for Community Groups 1/5/2019 – Jean to attend.

6. Working Groups

6.1 Strempel Avenue Verge Landscaping (J Germano)

Jean reported - Bench seat is organised. Mt Barker Men's Shed gave best quote. Ready early July. David Cooney to pick up and arrange instalment.

Planting not to occur until it has rained. Awaiting grant funding.

6.2 Yantaringa Reserve Open Space Cycling and Walking Trail (P & S O’Brien)

Sue O'Brien reported – There will be a meeting of all stakeholders at 10am on 11th April at the lookout, to progress plans. All of Yantaringa and the unnamed reserve is community land. Narelle reported that Yantaringa (its Bushcare site) is very protected, but outside of this area is an opportunity to progress community and recreational space. Malcolm suggested this is an opportunity to photograph the area, and present it at the AGM.

6.3 Heritage Planning and Policies (Harold, Dieter, Eric)

The Working group has not met as Harold has been away.

Jean has been in touch with Mary-Ellen Catchpole, DPTI, there is a ‘tidal wave of change'.

Speaker is being organised for HCA meeting. Need to understand the laws.

Opportunity to comment but may not be able to change.

Hahndorf likely to be in the 2nd phase of implementation, by end of 2019.

Jean has already flagged potential issues and questions.

The new Code will be implemented across all Heritage areas.

Narelle reports there are differing Code ‘layers' depending on postcode area.

Harold reports he has been contacted for a 1:1 discussion with the CEO of Heritage SA. He will provide feedback next meeting.

Harold also reports that he attended the Council meeting on 8th April with Councillors.

The Landscape Architects provided information on the options for the upgrade of the Main Street. There were no comments made regarding the Heritage aspects of the Village. Harold strongly advocates for retaining the Heritage style – eg: lights and seating.

Contemporary style is not complementary to the Heritage setting.

Narelle also expressed concern regarding comments about replacing Heritage with Contemporary style fittings. Needs to be a consistent approach.

Malcolm and Jean had met regarding the $6m project for beautification of the Main Street. These aspects had not been raised then.

Malcolm suggests writing to Craig Lovering, Clover Green Space, to express concern.

Narelle stressed the importance of celebrating, enhancing and encouraging the Heritage of Hahndorf.

Funding - $3m is available from Council, but no Government funding is currently allocated.

Dan Cregan, MP, has written to Ministers advocating for funding.

HCA still has time to advocate for maintenance of Heritage style.

Narelle suggested extending the Main Street streetscape to Palma's

Signage – Eric concerned existing street plan for signage is not being implemented.

Russell feels that signage ‘adds character' – but needs to be appropriate.

Mike gave feedback from German tourists – ‘Hahndorf is not a German Village ‘

7. Reports 2018/19

7.1 Council N Hardingham, D Leach, S Westwood, H Seager

Narelle reports –

1. Budget time – increased accountability

2. Cat By-law – encourages members to read the draft and comment. Registration process, desexing and microchipping, 2 cats per property, curfew 8pm - 8am proposed. David reports a 24 hour cat curfew in the Totness Reserve. This may extend to all cat owners. Encouraged all to give feedback.

7.2 Events J Kentish

Anzac Day. Wreath making 24th April at 9.30. Lions Club event.

7.3 Financial E Aliffe

Balance $5,250. Total receipts $350.00 - $200.00 from Hahndorf Lions Club,

Village Voice advertisements $150.00. Expenditure $150.00 – Sound and Lighting for Remembrance Day. Moved Eric, seconded Harold – accepted.

7.4 Township Plan J Germano

Jean reported – DPTI – Maddie Dobbin following up re traffic counting on Auricht Road – outcome? Windsor Avenue Resort – extension of time granted, but there has been no further contact. Cider House development – started. Concern expressed re the verification of traffic studies. Will need to do submission.

7.5 Village Voice W Williams/A Haines

Gathering information for the next issue.

7.6 Nixon’s Mill Stage 2 E Aliffe

Needs to have connectivity with other Hahndorf sites to encourage visits.

8. General Business

New Letterhead – Bruce is working on this. Mike suggested consideration of having Letterhead professionally printed as means of reducing cost of in house printing.

9. Other Business

Bus – Malcolm has written to Dan Cregan, MP, regarding an electric bus for use in the Main Street. 20 passenger.

Line marking – Windsor Avenue/Main Street intersection needs repainting.

Wombat crossings need repainting before Easter – for safety

Speaker for AGM – Suggest focus be on Yantaringa. AGM to be held in September. Suggested dates – Wednesday 25th, or Wednesday 18th. To confirm availability of venue with St Michaels. Format of AGM – correct meeting procedure will be followed. Action: Malcolm and Jean

Heavy Vehicles in Main Street – Russell queried the limitations on heavy vehicles using the Main Street. Concerned that vehicles with more than 6 axles are using the street. Suggested that a photograph of non compliant vehicles be taken and sent to DPTI with a complaint. Council has 3 compliance officers who patrol all Council areas

The Cedars - $9million Federal funding granted.
