Minutes of Committee meeting held Wednesday February 12th at 9.30 am

in the Hahndorf Institute Supper Room

1.Present

3.Minutes of Previous Meeting December 11. 2013

- confirmed as correct.

 

4.Business Arising

4.1 Pioneer Memorial Gardens Upgrade.John B. reported that the landscaping is moving toward completion. John has been overseeing the final marking of the basic oval garden presentation. Gravel and top soil being placed 12.02. Thank you John for your considerable input on behalf of residents and advice to Council. Clock - will be re connected once landscaping is completed. Toilet - some community concern regarding design and location. Copy of a letter to DCMB from Harold expressing these concerns tabled. Privacy wall yet to be installed. HCA monitor proper servicing of the new toilet block as it is less traditional.

4.2 2013 Development Plan. This is now the reference document for planning/development .

i. Rick reported that while it is difficult to read, the complete document needs to be read in order to understand the layers and reference points.  Jean tabled the Council Members Guide which clarifies the process of reading this document.

ii. Because of this committee interest in perservation of heritage, members requested a copy of the Heritage section. Sub Committee to meet by appointment with Simon Couts in 2 weeks.  Action Jean/Rick.

Category 3 application/notification no longer within the section, thus making it more difficult for a resident to express an opinion .

4.3 Nixons Mill progress. John Buchan,Eric, Jim and Andrew Gotzheim [DCMB] working as sub committee have achieved...

i. fenced, mown.

ii. levels for access and footpath completed.[John B].

iii. letter being drafted for submission to Mayor seeking Council committment

iv. support from National Trust Mt Barker, and Hahndorf.

v. future planning to seek community funding for appropriate signage.

vi. focus is the preservation of a landmark - it is used on DCMB logo.

Minuted. By resolution the HCA supports the effort to preserve Nixon's Mill, believed to be the oldest mill on the mainland .  That HCA holds any monies toward this project in a separate ledger .

4.4 175th Celebrations.

i. Re enactment of arrival of Captain Hahn and his financiers on January 15th.

ii. Gala Dinner 341 persons attended very successful event on all levels.

iii. Gallasch Family arrival re enactment on' The One and All ' at Port Adelaide on Feb 6th.

iv. Interviews on ABC- another due 21st Feb.

Next event is Founding Families Day on Feb 23rd.

Further events in Hahndorf are The Fringe, Heysen Sculpture Biennial.

6.Reports

6.1 Financial. Balance as at 12.02 2013 $3336.90

Expenses Public Liability Insurance $

TDU decorations $

Income TDU decoration funds from DCMB $2000.00

Balance from TDU income set aside for 175th celebration donations.

Report accepted.

6.2 Heritage Preservation [ see 4.2, 4.3]

6.3 TDU Balloons and banners provided to every trader to decorate as wished. Steady crowd on Academy corner and along Main St.

6.4 Beautification Only 2 tubs not being maintained Bistro 25, and Tattoo.Remind.

6.5 Village Voice Wendy has all but completed the Autumn edition. Awaiting 2 hot off the press articlesfrom events which occur next week. Advertising keeps us afloat. Inserts $90.00 A4 rare.  A5 as requested within reason.  1/4 page $50.00 1/2 page $70.00.  Sponsors always needed.

6.6 Council Matters

i. Wombat crossing. 2 under consideration. One near IGA, other under discussion.  This will possibly deter heavy vehicle traffic.

ii, Power lines - issue dropped.

iii. Rezoning of land near Totness ot Light Industrial. Council Planning Committee carried despite oppostition.

iv. HBTA planning to work on town entry statement next financial year.

6.7 Heavy Vehicle traffic Phil has set meeting with Council representatives  Action Rick, Bruce, Phil, Mike.  March 5 at 10.00am Kaffee Haus

 

7. General Business

Comment that HCA members achieve with little recognition. Reinforce these more.

Comment that CFS - will need to move out of Main street in future. Location ?

Comment that parking is becoming dire along Main St and side streets.
