Minutes of Committee Meeting held on Wednesday, 11th January 2012 in the Institute Supper Room at 9.30am

Minutes of Previous Meeting (9 November 2011):

Approved as a true and correct record of proceedings.

Guest Speaker:

The Chairman welcomed John Ashcroft, Chairman of the Hahndorf Business Traders Association, to speak and inform the committee of their HBT program for the New Year. The Traders are prepared to contribute $20,000 – $30,000 to Main street beautification together with an expected contribution from Mt Barker District Council. Initial maintenance to come from service clubs.

The Chairman offered the support of HCA by means of any physical help required in the landscaping project proposed by the HBTA.

There being no other nominations all positions were elected unopposed.

1. Business Arising:

1.1 Improved Lighting for darker areas of Main Street, Hahndorf

Still waiting to hear from Wayne Donningham (DCMB) regarding new solar lighting.
Wendy Williams to follow up and report back at next meeting.

1.2 Upgrade for the Hahnwiki

Ongoing. Waiting to hear from Tony Finniss.

1.3 Pioneer Memorial Gardens Upgrade

The Rotunda has been completed. The next phase is for the fence to be replaced
After which new toilets will be built before the existing ones are pulled down.
The Committee was advised by Jeff Bettcher that David Cooney is no longer looking after this project. The new contact is now Norm Key (DCMB).
Eric reported clock not working and will follow up.

1.4 No. 84 Main Street, Hahndorf

Deleted from agenda. No further action at this time required..

1.5 Heavy Traffic Issues and speed limit of 40kms through Main Street of Hahndorf

Nothing resolved at this time. Rick Harcourt to follow up transport issues with Andrew Excel of DTUP.

1.6 New Bus Shelter and replacement rubbish bin at Bus Stop 53

Norm Key advised Wendy Williams that he has a bus shelter available for location near Bus Stop 53.
A rubbish bin thereto will not be provided by DCMB.

1.7 Signage Compliance by Traders

Improvement in street signage noted.

1.8 Pine Avenue/Main Street Intersection

No reply to correspondence sent to Norm Key has been received as yet regarding possible pedestrian barriers being installed on Pine Avenue/Main Street intersection.

1.9 Hahndorf Waterways

No response to Council from NRM. Attempting to have water management plan for Hahndorf included in NRM 12/13 budget.

Russell Grivell expressed concern that priority is given to where Hahndorf Creek meets the Onkaparinga River. Jeff Bettcher will follow up the inclusion of this priority through discussion with DCMB.

2. Correspondence:

In:
Three accidents reported in the Main Street, Hahndorf by residents in answer to Village Voice Request to Main Street audit.

3. Reports:

3.1 Treasurer’s Report:

The Treasurer presented his report to the meeting showing cash at bank $3,298.71 as at 11 January 2012.
It was proposed we pay the current insurance account in the amount of $976.97 leaving a balance of $2,321.74.
Eric Aliffe moved his report be accepted. Seconded: Jim Fowles - Carried

3.2 Chairman’s Report:

The Chairman requested members to consider what our objectives will be over the coming year. To discuss further at next meeting.

4. Any Other Business:

4.1 Women’s Memorial:

After some debate it was decided to leave the date on the memorial at 1938, this being the date the “Zebra” arrived at Port Adelaide. Initial settlement of the Prussian immigrants to Australia was at Klemzig and the exact time of arrival in Hahndorf is uncertain. The cost involved in changing the date as quoted by Design Haus would cost $660 plus GST.
It was a unanimous decision by the Committee that we leave it as is.
