Held over until February meeting.

4. Business Arising

Yantaringa Reserve Bike & Walking Trail - Working group met this morning (Narelle, David, Peter, Sue and Jean). Peter outlines proposal for walking and bike trail. Will work on concept plan and overview, present to other Hahndorf groups, as a community project. Would be good if Village Voice could report on and follow progress. Committee in favour of supporting project. Bruce moves, Ann H seconds. Will be meeting 8:30am before every HCA meeting. Bruce would like to be included. Action: Jean

Removal of Main Street Trees Update - David Cooney has advised ‘sick’ (roots that wrap around) trees have been removed all over the district, as they pose a danger, and will be replaced with better stock in future.

Letter to Minister of Heritage (H. Gallasch) - Draft letter sent to Malcolm. Malcolm/Jean to review and edit, distribute for discussion in February meeting. Action: Malcolm/Jean Bruce asks what outcome do we want? Sarenah believes we are trying for a voice in the decision making. Simon adds Council input is being reduced. Letter should be specific to the feelings of the Hahndorf community. Harold says we want a say and the conservation zone should be considered. Eric remarks we should not easily accept but question; what will happen to Detmold or the old Anglican Church?

Jean asks if we are concerned about the seed blocks for sale at the end of Victoria Street. The blocks went to auction and the real estate agent indicated it was possible to build across titles now. Email Greg Waller and ask for clarification on developing seed blocks in the conservation zone. Action: Jean

Harold would like to get more signatures on his petition to Council. Russell asks if Traders have been approached. David says a group of 20 people are more than enough to change the course of Council decisions. Action: needed by all HCA members.

Malcolm mentions March meeting with Judith Formston, beginning of real work on traffic study. Jean has confirmed, will follow up again. Action: Jean Also invited Maddie Dobbin.

5. Correspondence In/Out

As listed. Jean emailed Migration Museum for R. Kulisch. Has had a reply and will forward to Germany. Action: Jean

6. Reports 2018/19

6.1 Council - Narelle is happy to work with us, making a strong positive connection with Council. One Councillor will always be present at our meetings. David and Simon agree.

6.2 Events - Ann has distributed balloons and ribbons to all the traders for tomorrow. Section of Balhannah road which is closed for the Santos Women’ s Tour Down Under. A free breakfast is offered by Lions at Academy corner.

6.3 Financial - Closing balance $4864. Eric moved , Bruce second the report be accepted.

6.4 Township Plan - Council has engaged a surveyor to undertake a detailed engineering survey of the Main Street. Part of the Main Street Upgrade project. Also engaged a landscape architect to prepare the concept plans. Exciting year for Hahndorf.

Jean feels frustrated when residents complain nothing is happening, thinks Council could be better at ‘optics’ using the VV and Courier. Sue discusses progress along Pine Ave. Will email Maddie and pass on our thanks for progress and suggest doing an article for the VV. Action: Jean

6.5 Village Voice - Follow the Yantaringa Reserve bike trail project progress. Action: Ann, Wendy

8. General Business

Strempel Avenue Verge Project - Organizing working party of neighbours to landscape verge on corner of Strempel Ave. and Balhannah Road. Would like endorsement by committee, as community grant money will be required. Agreed. Great if VV could follow progress. Action: Wendy, Ann

9. Other Business

Russell says traders should get a ‘pat on the back’ for lighting up the town at Christmas.

Negatives:  Balhannah Road to Main Street to Church Street, Kerb edges broken away, footpath up and down. Main Street to Echunga, concrete broken away, Windsor to Main Street, hedge not trimmed down enough. Councillors would prefer individual complaints go to Council first. Councillors will follow up if not addressed.

Malcolm adds: Post Office, 2/3 side entry pits on footpath; outside edge angle waiting for tire damage.

New Council app available, easy to enter complaints with photos.

Malcolm would like photo’s of Nixon’s Mill sails. See Tony Finniss.

Bruce thought we should be proud of Christmas decorations. Hahndorf has never jmlooked better in anticipation for the tourist season.
