Committee Meeting held Wednesday June 11th 2014 at 9.30am

Chairman welcomed all, and commented on positive outcome regarding traffic flow/Wombat Crossings on Main St . HCA Representation at Council Meeting, community consultation undertaken by DPTI.

 

3.Minutes of Previous Meeting May 14

Confirmed T Finnis, J Fowles.  Matters for clarification a] modesty screen at PMG toilet.  b] letter of confirmation from DCMB on traffic meeting 5/3. to be addressed in Business Arising 4 & Reports 6

 

4. Business Arising

4.1 Pioneer Memorial Gardens as actioned by J Buchan.Response from A Gottzheiim DCMB

I. crack in arch - referred to Scott Balmer for examination.

ii.limestone block - replaced. Heavy vehicle dislodged it.

iii. fencing - extended to discourage persons tramping across garden.

iv. modesty screen - new financial year

v. seats around lawn - new financial year.

Monitor this for July/August meeting. Remind A Gottzheim if apropriate budget item.

vi. Community Grant application -Not successful.

4.2 Remembrance Day Ceremony. Bruce Mouatt to manage this with committee assistance.  Recommended that a lay person give the address, prayers be led by a minister/priest, MC. be Chairperson or representative,PA to be hired,invitations to be actioned in June/July, letter to bugler and employer immediate.  Action Bruce/Ann

4.3 Footpath to Beerenberg. Rick/Ann met with Carol Paech. The family is supportive of an improved pathway along road, through the property would be fraught with difficulties.  Financial input unlikely.  Jeff reported that DCMB and DPTI require barriers along road if footpath improvement is undertaken.  Approach Council indicating HCA concern for safety. Minimal grading and trimming of trees could be a first step. Action Rick/Ann

4.4 Letterhead . Recommendation that new HCA gmail address be created for longevity.   Action Tony/Ann

 

5.Correspondence

In /Out Outcome of DPTI consultation re Wombat Crossings.

Response re. Pioneer Memorial Gardens tasks.

Grant application response.- unsuccessful.

C Paech - footpath discussion

 

6. Reports

6.1 Financial Balance $3780.47 $870 held across for 175th Celebration booklet.  Village Voice payments - some now B Pay Watch for these.  Insurance. Explore less costly option as per Mt Barker Residents Assocn.

6.2 Heritage Preservation .

i. Nixon's Mill $100,000 allocated in Budget. DCMB needs to be informed that several organisations have an interest in this project, Lions, Nat Trust, desire to assist. Meeting of like minded groups as ap.

ii. Combined Mt Barker National Trust/Hahndorf NT meeting to be held in Institute Tuesday July 4.@ 1.30 pm.  HCA Heritage sub committee invited.

iii. small preservations happening egAcademy stone wall, Inn verandah.

6.3 Heavy Vehicle /traffic.

I. Bald Hills Interchange - written and verbal request at Briggs office for a summary of report not forthcoming. Ann follow up.  Cr Jeff reported that plans have been drawn up, consultation due in July.

ii. Letter of confirmation from Brian Clancey regarding Mar 5 meeting to establish risk analyses of safety matters not received. Reminder to B.C that this confirmation was requested and promised. Action Phil/Rick/Bruce

iii. Confirmation of community consultation from DPTI onmatter of Wombatcrossings and Main Street speed between same [40kph] Work to commence July.  HCA effort acknowledged.

6.4 Village Voice. Excellent issue.   Well done Wendy. Look to new members writing a page to lessen load.eg " a local matters page" Numbers have grown from 895 -940 delivered plus former residents, advertisers and Councillors etc.

6.5 Council Matters.  Cr Bettcher reported on

i. Bald Hills Interchange - as above

Chairman Rick left the meeting 10.15. Mike took chair.

ii.Entry Statement . Chairpersons of local organisations ie Lions, HBTA, HCA Academy Board, and 2 councillors met to establish working plan.

-financial source, possible locations, type of statement  Next meeting July iii. Council budget - public meeting Monday16 at 5.00pm 5% increase foreseen, developers in new growth areas now required to fund sewer lines and paya for extra services. Growth less than projected. iv. Super clinic now named Summit Health construction advancing.Federal Government $7 million, Summit health $3 million.   Planned to be 24/7 doctors on call.

6.6 175th Celebrations Sports History Day at Oval on July 19th

Musikfest June 14th in Institute

 

7. General Business

Community Hero nomination. DCMB seeking to recognize persons [as part of 175th celebration ]from each town as appreciation for volunteer efforts.  Discussion  decision that individuals may nominate a Hahndorf person should each wish to do so. The name "hero' is inappropriate to some committee members.

 

8. Any Other Business

a. Harold queried the value of 40kph between Wombat crossings in evenings.

b. Garden bed at CFS to be properly bordered.

c. Exit from Kaffehaus difficult to manouver. Little can be done to improve this.

d. A frame compliance - traders need a reminder. Complinace Office to be alerted Action Jeff Mardi Zeunert [HBTA publicity person] to be advised and ask traders to conform. Action Ann
