Minutes of Committee Meeting Held Wednesday 9 March 2016

3. Minutes of Previous Meeting 10 February 2016

Tony emailed correction to Jean. Jean will amend. Tony confirmed minutes as correct. Jeff seconded.

4. Business Arising

Rural DPA submission, open for discussion. Jean asked Jeff if it was appropriate to list all the policy areas. Agreed it was. Margaret and Mike thought it was professional and respectful. Susan Hamilton mentioned need to lobby, need for press release. Jeff said there is more subdivision to come. Meeting Traders tomorrow. Susan felt Hahndorf was losing historic authenticity. Vote taken, all in favour. Jean explained PDF will be emailed separately to Mayor, Councillors, Planning and Traders, Academy and Institute with covering email explaining our position briefly. Follow up with phone calls to Councillors. Action Jean, Ann Bruce and Rick to formulate marketing to press Action Rick, Bruce Susan Hamilton asked why aren’t Hills Councils in sync? Hahndorf is the centre of the cultural region.

5. Correspondence In/Out

Council Community Grant Submission, Residents Win letter, emails to and from Debs Buchmann, to Jason Duffield, to Warren and Leslie, from Ann Wurlod, to Cr. Susan Hamilton, to Judith Urquhart.

6. Subcommittees 2015/16

6.1 Master Plan Submission - Jean suggests the next Village Voice should be about the Master Plan process, liaising with Greg Sarre from Council. We need take some credit for the process, get residents interested and excited. Action Ann, Wendy, Jean

6.2 Heavy Vehicle Sub Committee - Subcommittee held meeting, Phil put together a letter showing historical perspective. Subcommittee agreed to continue to pursue issue and Rick will put together a position paper to create policy. Ann mentioned article in Courier re trucks in Lobethal. Jeff will continue to pursue issue with Isobel Redmond and Jamie Briggs. Action Rick

6.3 Nixon’s Mill Project - Eric mentioned Courier article summarizing Stage I. Eric said there are 4 amounts of money in kitty. Question on costing? Jeff said he put all components in budget. Focus group meets again on 31st.

6.4 Parking - Bruce, Jason and Rick to meet on how to move forward. Jeff mentioned trail to Beerenburg next year. Margaret asked Jeff about re-surfacing Carl Nitschke carpark, Jean mentioned removal of sign. Action Jeff

6.5 Marketing/Community/Liaison/Networking - Working to plan.

7. Reports

7.1 Financial - Total funds $3933 includes $800 held for Mill Project. $3133 available to HCA.

7.2 Entrance - Pegs in ground. Agreement drafted. Waiting for 3D CAD diagram of design. John Ashcroft will draw up.

7.3 Council Matters - NBN end of June for Hahndorf. Behind schedule. 35 meter tower to be erected 350 Windsor Ave. Town Centre DPA passed. High density 5 story buildings. Roundabout landscaping on track. Growth hormone injecting in Hahndorf elms knocked back.

7.4 Planning Heritage - Jean reviewed January building list. Wishing well waiting on dome.

7.5 Digital Progress Facebook/Wiki - Eric and Tony discussing arrangement of payment. Jean mentioned Facebook needs closer link to VV. Action Jean, Wendy, Ann

7.6 Village Voice - Ann to enter in regional awards. Tony sends to Germany, colossal response. Thanks to Wendy.

8. General Business

8.1 Tour Down Under 2017 Decorations/Community Grant - HCA will put in a grant application for a barbecue banner, AGM sign, TDU decorations in September. Action Jean, Ann, Jim

8.2 Speaker for September 2016 - Jean read out list of possible speakers discussed in previous meetings. Ann spoke to Alan Campbell about a community meeting/event involving the Heysen foundation. Eric suggested making the AGM a normal meeting and having a speaker as a separate event. Rick believes we need a minimum of 100 at AGM to hear annual report. Bruce to put forward proposal in April. Decision on speaker to be made at next meeting. Action Bruce

9. Other Business

9.1 Change of Meeting Time - Keep on agenda. Action Jean

9.2 Minute taking (level of detail) - Jean would like minutes to be more concise. Will be taking minutes for Academy board.

Phil left early. Ann to seek Remembrance Day Speaker.

Susan Hamilton suggested combined meeting of North Ward Community Groups. Action Jean

Eric invited everyone to ‘Pleasant Sunday Afternoon’ to celebrate our Hall on 15 May.

Ann asked If she could write to Dr. Susan Neuhaus in regard to speaking at Remembrance Day.
