The Hahndorf Soccer Club is a Community Club
and was founded in 1978 by Richard Jones. Teams from under 8's to under 12's competed in the inaugural season of St Michael's School of the Adelaide Hills Junior Soccer Association (AHJSA).
Since then the Hahndorf Soccer Club has grown to become the strongest of the junior clubs in the Adelaide Hills, winning the Association Cup, League Titles and AHJSA Carnival more times in every age group that any other club.
From these humble beginnings as a junior club, we now have under 8's to under 17's in the AHJSA Open Competition. We also field one team in the AHJSA "G" (Girls League), Senior Firsts, Reserves and the 'Super C's' in the South Australian Amateur Soccer League Saturday First Division.
The Club's greatest success to date was in 1996 when Hahndorf's Division One Team won against Fulham United in the final of the 'Advertiser Newsfront Cup' at Grange.
The Hahndorf Soccer Club is also very much a community club with its base in Pine Avenue, just above the football ground. The soccer pitch has undergone significant improvements since it was originally created and is now one of the best grounds in the Adelaide Hills.
Nowadays the pitch is proudly in the expert hands of the current groundskeeper Rob Kilpatrick, as well as other volunteers who lend a hand. There are also further plans to improve the facilities with the installation of lights for the soccer pitch, the development of undercover protection for spectators and new change rooms for the players.
The Soccer Club has its Registration Day in February in the Oval Clubrooms in conjunction with the Netball Club. Many local families take the opportunity to register their children for either sport in preparation for the winter season. Those interested in registering email [email protected] for more details.
In 2010 season we had 4 senior men’s teams, catering for players from 17 years plus, competing in the SAASL (South Australian Amateur Soccer League) on Saturday afternoons.
We also had 11 junior teams for children from 5 years through to 17 years with the AHJSA (Adelaide Hills Junior Soccer Association). Hahndorf plays against teams from Torrens Valley, to Murray Bridge and Strathalbyn.
The different age groups play at different times on a Saturday and therefore, soccer is being played at our “Home” ground, Pine Avenue, Hahndorf every Saturday from 8.30am till 5pm. Everyone is welcome. There are still many ongoing projects to improve our facilities and we encourage all parents, friends and players to support a local sporting club.
