Anna Bertha LIEBELT confirmation 1880Anna Bertha was the youngest of 11 children to Johanna Caroline LUBASCH & Johann Gottlieb LIEBELT.  In 1895, 2 years after her father died at 69 years of age Anna married, Carl Reinhold KRAMM who farmed her parents property.

Anna Bertha's mother must have continued to live in the family home for another 7 years with her daughter and son in law until she herself died in 1902 at 75 years of age.  

Anna Bertha must have inherited the property off Echunga Rd and anecdotally in Hahndorf, it became known as the 'KRAMM family property'.

2.   Certificate of Oath of Allegiance

Johann Gottlieb LIEBELT b1823

was married by Pastor KAVEL in the Hahndorf Schoolroom on

September 9, 1847 to

Johanna Caroline LUBASCH b1827

They were shortly to move to their land in Friedrichstadt but according to this document, in February 1849, they were still living in Hahndorf.

                 

"Certificate if Oath of Allegiance Johann Gottlieb LIEBELT"

T.T. FINNIS 1807-1893,

1st Premier of South Australia serving from 1856-1857

South Australia. Signed by Boyle Travers FINNIS Esquire, Acting Registrar Germans, of the Province of South Australia, do, by virtue of the power given to me in this behalf by the Ordinance past on the Twenty-eighty day of July, One thousand Eight Hundred & Forty-six [No. 7], "To amend the Laws relating to Aliens" hereby certify, that Johann Gottlieb LIEBELT a native of Silesia in Prussia but now residing at Hahndorf in the said Province, and being by Trade or Profession a farmer did this day take and subscribe before me the oath prescribed by the saith Ordinance.  Give under my hand this fifth day of February One Thousand & 49."

Authors Note:  Johann Gottlieb LIEBELT is from the village of Nickern in Brandenburg, Prussia.  In this document he has stated that he is from Silesia in Prussia.
  • Eldest child of the 2nd son of Anna Elisabeth STEINBORN & Johann Christoph LIEBELT Snr.
  • Parents were Maria Elisabeth KUCHEL & Johann Christian LIEBELT.
  • In 1849 Johann Gottlieb LIEBELT had been married for 2 years, had 2 children, was a squatter at Friedrichstadt.

4 December 2023,  Dr Lois ZWECK, historian, author, translator  "One of these documents is KRAMM's Gesellen / Journeyman exam, even more rare his enrolment as a citizen by the town council [Magistrat] - as a cloth maker & house owner.  This is his emigration permit / dismissal, together with the whole family."
