Likely another child perhaps here in the family – John McGavisk perhaps John James McGavisk Gardener; Longwood. Birth not registered. Perhaps father of Raymond John McGavisk b c1908 m 19/5/1928 St John’s Mylor, Veronica Jessie Beatrice Opie nee LAPIDGE b c1908 daughter of John Edward Freeling Opie Lapidge and Jessie nee BISHOP (Did Veronica Lapidge live with her grandmother Mary Jane Lapidge storekeeper; Mylor at the time of her marriage??)

Raymond John McGavisk – father John James McGavisk

Violet McGavisk born 1910 father James McGavisk m 9/12/1932 Holy Trinity Adelaide Ian Alister McGregor CAMERON 25 son of Donald Cameron.

Much mystery concerning the death of JA McGavisk. His age given as 80, whereas he should have been 86. Wife given as Helena McGavisk. No mention of any children. Uncle of Evelyn, Alf, Elsie and Jack – are these a mixture of McGavisk and Marvell children?? His name indexed as McGavisk, yet the Chronicle lists it as McGarisk. No mention of the death of his first wife, Gertrude Mayo Reid, or a remarriage to Helena nee ? There were children of the first marriage – where did they get to? Is this a wrong identification? Did JA McGavisk go interstate and this is another one? Not very likely, I should think, as the name is so rare.
