Johann Gottlieb/Gottlob NITSCHKE

  • Lived Hahndorf as a wheelwright and farmer by 1839
  • Lived Klemzig as a wheelwright and farmer by 1843
  • Lived Blakiston Section 4421 Hundred of Macclesfield by c1850, where he lived as a farmer. Also bought Sections 4413, 4414 as land grants. Still a farmer in 1853 when he bought Section 293 Hundred of Nuriootpa as a land grant.
  • Shifted to Walton c1853-1854. Bought Section 1665 Hundred of Nuriootpa from a private landowner at some stage which he settled on his eldest son Friedrich Wilhelm Nitschke
  • Lived Section 293 Hundred of Nuriootpa near Walton – 38 acres by 1869. By 1873 Section 293 was described as 38 acres with a mud house. By ?, he owned only 1.75 acres with stone house and stables.
  • JG Nitschke applied to the Clerk of the District Council of Nuriootpa for outdoor rations.
  • Lived on Government land at German Gully near Hahndorf by 1893
  • Lived near Walton again by 29/4/1893, when the Clerk of the District Council of Nuriootpa applied to the SA Destitute Board for outdoor rations to assist JG Nitschke. This must have soon been converted into admission to the Destitute Asylum in Adelaide. Apparently went to live with his daughter Mrs Beinke near Laura for about six months before he went to the Destitute Asylum. The Beinkes were too poor to look after Gottlieb Nitschke well.
  • Lived Destitute Asylum Adelaide from 14/11/1893 until his death on 15/1/1896. Buried 20/1/1896 West Tce Cemetery in a pauper grave – Henry E Brookes, Superintendent of Public Cemeteries - conducted the ceremony.

  • Lived Section 1665 Hundred of Nuriootpa – 80 acres with mud hut fenced and cultivated at Walton by 1865. Owned Section1666 Hundred of Nuriootpa 80 acres as well undeveloped. Also owned Section 277 – 80 acres of undeveloped land near Daveyston. By ? the family had shifted to a stone house and stables on Section 1666, with 50 acres cultivated. The mud hut on Section 1665 had been demolished.
