The following Shipping Lists for early departures from South Australia were compiled by Reg Butler (Hahndorf) over many years, and may include certain additional information regarding the people and families concerned.

Adelaide Examiner 22/3/1843 ‘The ultimate destination of those who leave for the other colonies is Singapore, or the British settlements in China; for the latter place, multitudes are now re-emigrating from NSW’ Adelaide Examiner 22/2/1843.

The Kingston hence to London with copper ore, wool, wheat etc put in at the Cape on the 14th June, after encountering, during a 75 days’ passage, five furious gales. When near the Cape, her bulwarks were carried away, and constant pumping was required to keep her afloat. Some degree of spontaneous combustion in her wool and stress of weather having rendered it advisable to land the wheat, it was found partially damaged, but nevertheless, it was sold at about 12s per bushel, whilst for the flour £36 per ton was obtained.
