The original Mogadore Branch Library opened in 1966 in a former First National Bank building purchased by J. Frank Kimmerline and given to the Akron Public Library. From 1967 through 1982 the costs of operating the branch were shared by the Akron-Summit County Public Library and the Portage County District Library. As a result of continuing financial problems at the Portage County District Library, ASCPL agreed to assume full responsibility for operating the branch as of 1983. The new Mogadore Branch Library opened in 1999.
