The Norton Branch of the Akron-Summit County library system was first opened in a tiny building on the corner of Cleveland-Massillon Road and Oak Street. An addition for children was added by the Friends of Norton Library in 1972. Services and circulation grew throughout the 1970s and 1980s until it became necessary to construct a larger library building which was dedicated in 1988.
