What is AlaMAP?

The Alamance Medication Assistance Program (AlaMAP) is a non-profit program of Alamance Regional Medical Center. AlaMAP provides medication access, education and management to persons who have limited financial resources and no prescription insurance coverage. AlaMAP ensures that its participants are using the simplest, most cost effective and most appropriate medication regiment. This is accomplished through medical therapy reviews and individual patient counseling.

Who does AlaMAP serve?

AlaMAP serves members of the community who have no insurance (Medicare included), that live at, or under 250% of the poverty line (set by the government every year). AlaMAP will work with patients individually to determine their eligibility.

Federal Poverty Level-Patients must earn less than 250% (per year) to be served by AlaMAP. Patients may have up to $15,000 in liquid assets for an individual or $30,000 for a couple.

Since its creation in 2001, AlaMAP has served more than 1,500 patients and has distributed more than $6.7 million dollars worth of free and reduced cost medication. The program has helped to significantly reduce the hospitalization and Emergency Department usage of its patients.
