Elon University-Global Neighborhood

Elon University is a vibrant and ever changing campus. The brand new Global Neighborhood debuted Buildings D & E in the fall of 2013 with the remainder of The Global Neighborhood Buildings A, B, and C housing for the fall of 2014, just days before Move-In Day in the Fall of 2014. These new buildings offer housing for mostly Freshman. Most dorms are Jack-and-Jill style, as well as single pods. As well, they integrate professors and classrooms onto the main floors. The Global Neighborhood houses mostly First-Year students while also being home to a select group of sophomores and an even smaller group of upperclassmen.

An example of a Global Dorm Room:

The Global Neighborhood is built over the recently torn down north area dorms and dining hall. The Global Neighborhood is going to host the relocated Isabella Canon International Centre. The Global Neighborhood will also house the international learning communities- La Casa de Español, La Maison Francaise, Japanese House, La Casa Italiana, and Deutsches Haus. The neighborhood consists of 5 buildings with 600 student beds. The building of the Global Neighborhood will help Elon to reach its goal of having 75% of the university’s undergraduates living on campus. In addition to housing, The Global Neighborhood also consists of the "Global Commons" which has a large great hall where students can study, as well as a digital projection theater and offices for the Core Curriculum and Study Abroad. The freshmen year core class, The Global Experience, will be taught in the Global Neighborhood as well.  This addition will allow Elon to have a central global hub and will be a great asset to the students.

The Global Neighborhood residence halls feature a classroom in each building, a common room on each floor with attached study rooms and fully furnished kitchens. The dorm options in the buildings are a combination of single rooms, single pods with a small common room, standalone doubles, and standard doubles that share a bathroom with the room next-door.
