Habitat for Humanity is a national non-profit organization that was designed to build homes for under privileged families that cannot afford their own houses.  The organization gets volunteers from around that particular area to work on a house that they are building and they try to finish it as quickly as possible to get the people moved into their homes.  They also require that if you are applying for a house, that you work for the organization in building other homes before you can get a house.  The students of Elon in the school’s Habitat for Humanity provide a big help to the Alamance County Habitat for Humanity.  The club holds fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the charity and sends a group to build a house nearly every week. The club also aims to complete at least one house each year by themselves, not counting the work they do on other houses.  Elon’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity has over 100 students who are all willing and eager to give back to the underprivileged families of Alamance County. The club helps the county’s group so much through their donations of money and time.  Also the large amount of interest to help often provides plenty of students to help on build days.
