Listen up students and locals! Are you tired of the on campus dining such as The Root, Acorn Coffee Shop, Pandora’s Pies, or Oak House? Elon University is home to some of the most convenient and delicious on campus venues, however sometimes it is nice to get a change of scenery. Preggo’s Trattoria is a well-known Italian cuisine in the town of Burlington, North Carolina that recently opened in 2005. The best part is that it is only a seven-minute drive from campus! Everything is reasonably priced and they provide you with a balanced meal. Each entreé is no more than $30 depending on what you order. The waiters, food, and overall atmosphere are hard to beat. It's guaranteed that you will leave there feeling satisfied and content with your meal.
I have witnessed Prego’s Trattoria first-hand because my friends and I ate here. We didn’t have to make reservations and they seated us outside immediately. The service was fast and while we waited for our food to come out we dined on warm bread rolls and a complimentary polenta cubes. The food and service were both amazing and I would definitely recommend trying it. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad special with grilled salmon. It was not only aesthetically appealing, but also appetizing. The meal was so satisfying and I even brought some back to the dorm to eat later. They really try and give you the best possible experience at their restaurant.
Vincento Hernandez, founder and owner of “The Original Prego’s Trattoria” states that, “food is not just our business, it’s our passion.” Before opening his own restaurant he worked throughout Northern and Southern parts of Italy for twenty-one years. His business is very family oriented with his son working for him and a majority of his recipes coming from his Grandmother who was an Italian immigrant. He tried to incorporate specials and dishes that he grew up eating at home. They value their customers and make sure to create a welcoming environment for them.
