History

Amy and her brother-in-law Tom started the business out of an obsession for ice cream and a personal interest in experimenting with different combinations of ice cream flavors. This passion led to the opening of Smitty’s in 2002, named after Tom's friend from Arizona, Smitty. The original store was located on South Church Street, but has since moved to North Williamson Avenue in Downtown Elon. In May of 2014, Smitty's expanded their business to Graham, North Carolina, opening a second storefront.

Customers of all ages, especially students of Elon University, enjoy the homemade taste of over 100 ice cream flavors and the welcoming and friendly atmosphere at each location where Smitty's ice cream is sold.

Special Events

Smitty's also offers the opportunity to host parties in one of their large party ansd special event rooms. This is often used by locals for parties, meetings, or simple get-togethers. Smitty's Homemade Ice Cream also provides catering services including an ice cream cart, ice cream cakes, the "party tub", and an ice cream sundae bar.
