Cold Stone Creamery is one of the most popular as well as one of the most loved ice cream stores in the United States. It was first founded in 1988 by Donald and Susan Sutherland for the ice cream lovers who searched for ice cream that was creamy and soft rather than hard-packed or soft-serve offered by competitors. After spending several years experimenting with different ice cream flavors and ingredients, they opened the first Cold Stone Creamery in Tempe, Arizona. For over 25 years, Cold Stone has thrived over the concept that it doesn’t just serve regular ice cream, it provides customers with their own unique ice cream creation. Today there are over 1,000 stores across the country. The key to Cold Stone’s success is its unique concept that customers design their own personalized “dessert creations” choosing from many different ingredients. After the costumer chooses their ingredients, staff members will then mix the ingredients together using cold spatula like ice cream scoopers on an actual frozen stone. Cold Stone workers are also very enthusiastic and positive and when given a tip, will sing cheerful jingles. With all of these factors combined, this company has aimed at creating the "Ultimate Ice Cream Experience" by selling entertainment along with its super-premium ice cream.
