The Burlington Day School

Founded in 1954 by a group of parents wanting a better education for their children, The Burlington Day School has led many children through successful educations in Alamance County. Today, the school offers education for ages three to fourteen (eighth-grade), with around two hundred students per grade level. It is an independent, non-profit, non-sectarian, co-educational school that provides students with class time, teacher attention and enrichment activities.

The mission for the school is to establish solid foundation in academics, arts, athletics, and citizenship.  They strive to build self-confidence within individuals that travel through The Burlington Day School. Therefore students can emerge with courage to begin their life and start secondary school.

Dr. Louis "Smokey" Oats is the transitional head of the school that tries to engage not only the students, but the parents as well. He hopes to get them as involved as possible. He establishes core values among each of the students such as honesty, friendship, loyalty, courage and responsibility. Each of these characteristics helps prepare The Burlington Day School graduates for high school, college and life.

Cost can be a contributing factor when determining whether or not to send your child to The Burlington Day School, however the school offers financial aid and scholarships to families in need.
