Octagon Café

Every day, many hungry students, faculty, and staff venture over to Elon University’s Octagon Café. The mini food court in the Moseley Center serves as a place where people can choose to get full course meals, snack foods, pastries, or drinks. As for meals, students have the option of Topio’s Pizza (open Monday-Sunday, 11:00 am-1:00 am), Chick-Fil-A (open Monday-Friday, 11:00 am-9:00 pm), and Grille Works (open Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-9:00 pm, Saturday-Sunday, 9:00 am-7:00 pm). Students with a meal plan can pay for the meals with a Meal Exchange, Meal Dollars, or Phoenix Cash. Snacks provided include chips, trail mix, fruit, and single serving cereal bowls. One can also purchase pastries (i.e. muffins, Danishes, cinnamon rolls, etc.). Coffee, iced tea, sodas, water (bottled and tap), and sports/energy drinks are offered. There are also prepackaged meals along the lines of sushi and sandwiches available for purchase. Students can use Meal Dollars or Phoenix Cash to obtain snacks, pastries, drinks, and prepackaged meals. Octagon also allows people to pay with legitimate cash, but then the buyer has to pay North Carolina sales tax. Students can also feel free to visit neighboring Freshens Energy Zone (a delicious smoothie shop) or Pan Geos. Development and Timeline

As of Fall 2014, the Octagon Cafe was closed down and replaced by the Winter Garden Cafe along with all of the food options that were available, such as Topio’s Pizza, Chick Fil A, and Grille Works. Topio's and Chick Fil A have since been relocated to Winter Garden Cafe and McEwen Dining Hall (respectively). Winter Garden is also the location of Elon's Biscuitville and Freshi. Now this area is a renovated and modern Student Center and lounge that sits in Moseley Center beneficially between Lakeside Dining Hall, Mailing Center, Student Professional Development Center, and Moseley Welcome Center. The attractive new Student Center and lounge is complete with floor to ceiling windows, modern decor, and cozy study rooms and chairs. It holds the Ward Octagon Meeting Room, Student Center Kitchen, Student Organization Office Suites, TV lounge, printer station, and computer station. This area provides a productive environment for group activity, independent study, or a central meeting place. It is conducive to education and entertainment, while promoting work and enjoyment by use of modern decor and office space. The brand new Student Center is on top of things for modern studying and offers yet another area for productivity among students.
