Introduction

If you've ever wanted a cute little getaway or a great place to stay if you are visiting Elon University, then The Acorn Inn is the spot for you! The Acorn Inn is located at 301 West Haggard Avenue, just two blocks from Elon University and three miles from 1-40.  The Acorn Inn is a twelve-suite luxury inn that has been locally owned by Elon Alumni since 2001.

Suites and Amenities

Each suite offers amazing features such as a whirlpool tub, fireplace, a cozy bathrobe, a sitting area with a fireplace, a separate sleeping area, a pillow-top king bed, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, a fold out sofa or Murphy wall bed, a fridge, a coffee maker, a microwave, and honor bar, high speed internet, and 2 televisions with HBO. There is also breakfast served daily, consisting of homemade waffles and pastries.  Both afternoon treats and the business center are complimentary to guests. 

Special Events and Additional Services

An additional service offered at the Inn is Front Porch Music. This begins September 11th, and occurs every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, from 5:30-7:30 PM. Even if you are a not a guest at the Inn, you can still attend these nights for a small cover charge of $5, while it is free if you are staying there. There is a complimentary wine tasting provided by The Grove Winery, as well as appetizers offered by The Root, and Pandora’s Pies. Entertainment in the upcoming weeks includes, Haw River Social Club, on September 11th, and Mitchell Street band on September 25. Following weeks performances  include Take Two, and “Waylon” Willy Fisher. The Acorn Inn also offers front porch catering packages if anyone would be interested in marketing their food to guests. The Inn is able to host such events as pre-tailgate gatherings, reunions, graduation parties, recital receptions, and wedding showers. They even have "Sadie Benz", a Bio-Diesel driven airport transportation vehicle. Guests traveling to RDU can be driven for $80, and those being taken to GSO can be driven for $65. If you are not a guest, you may still be taken to RDU for $95 or GSO for $75. 

Eco-Friendly Accommodations

The Acorn Inn is very proud to be a Eco-Friendly hotel, and they strive more and more each day to make your stay more safe, comfortable, and environmentally friendly as possible. All room are non-smoking, and all come with 100% cotton towels. The Inn practices energy conservation, recycling, and partakes in local product use. They serve organic coffee to their guests as well during continental breakfast. Bicycles are offered to guests as well, whether as need for transportation, or for just having fun with the family. Acorn also takes time to make donations to various charities and fundraisers in the community. Finally, The Acorn Inn is equipped with an educated staff who not only know how to make your stay enjoyable, but make it eco-friendly and as wastrels as possible.

Joyce Nora, a guest from Sarasota, FL commented about The Acorn Inn, saying, "This is the second time I stayed at the Acorn Inn. We were visiting Elon University. The Inn is absolutely charming and so very comfortable. If I ever find myself back at Elon this is absolutely where I would stay! Thank You!” The majority of the reviews on the Acorn Inn are extremely positive and encourage anyone who is around the area to check it out and stay a few nights. 

Rates and Packages

The prices at The Acorn Inn are also very reasonable and affordable. For one suite from Sunday-Thursday the rate is $114 per night, and on weekends the rate is $134. There is also a Romantic Get-Away package costing only $169, where you can spice up your next date night with a wine tasting at Grove Winery, take home your own bottle of wine, indulge in homemade chocolates, have a romantic dinner at The Root or The Fat Frogg, and stay in a suite at the Inn with full accommodations and a deluxe continental breakfast. There are usually special packages and rates during orientation, move-in weekend, Phoenix Fridays, Fellows and Scholars week, Family Weekend, Homecoming Weekend, Move-Out Weekend, and Graduation Weekend, Rates usually vary.  Karen, an Inn employee, says that all employees multitask, " I do everything from front desk to cleaning to cooking, everyone here is a multitasker." When Karen was asked what her favorite thing about the Acorn Inn was, she said, " I like the people the best, and the diversity of people who come to the Inn when visiting Elon University. A lot of business has to do with the university, so June and July are our slowest months." Overall, The Acorn Inn is extremely warm and inviting, and can remind anyone of home. The comfortable living at a reasonable rate and the pleasant staff can make any stay wonderful!
