The Root

The Root is a restaurant where "fresh, flavorful food [is] made from scratch with quality ingredients by people passionate about good cooking". The Root is located on 110 W. Lebanon Ave. in Elon, NC. It is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00am-9:00pm, Friday through Saturday 11:00am-10:00pm, and Sunday through Monday 11:00am-3:00pm.

Food Options

Some great appetizer options are the Fresh Edamame Dip which is served with crispy home-cooked tortilla chips, sliced cucumbers, and carrots and the Topped Truffle Parmesan Fries which are topped with Truffle aioli and shaved Parmesan. These are both best-sellers and favorites of the Elon University students.   They have a variety of salads ranging from a regular caesar salad or garden salad to the delicious Asian Salad which consists of crispy romaine lettuce with a touch of shredded cabbage, carrot, scallion, edamame, sliced almonds, and wonton crisps with house-made ginger-soy dressing. They have an awesome Caprese Sandwich which has ripe tomato slices, fresh mozzarella and basil on french bread with basil aioli. They also have BBQ tofu which is organic grilled tofu with house-made BBQ sauce and our sweet and tangy coleslaw served on french bread. Another favorite is the grill cheese which is their signature house blend of creamy cheeses on wheat or white. You can add any topping for 25 cents each: tomato, spinach, mushrooms, caramelized balsamic onions, fresh basil, edamame spread, arugula, crispy fried onions. They have a variety of vegan burgers which are crispy and savory black bean quinoa burgers such as the Vegan Mozzarella Burger and the Vegan Bleu Cheese Burger.

 

 

Green World 

Green World is located upstairs at the Colonnades Dining Hall at Elon University. They are open for lunch every day from 11:00am-2:00pm and for dinner everyday from 5:00pm-8:00pm.

Food Options

Green World only serves dishes that are either vegetarian, gluten free, vegan, or any mix of the three. This dining option has become favorites among the students at the university. Some of these options are Mushroom Stroganoff, Butternut Squash Risotto, Grilled Vegetables, Steamed Carrots, Vegetable Quesadilla, Tortilla Soup and Black Bean Burgers. It contains a salad bar with many different choices in dressing, lettuce, and toppings. 

 

 

Simply Thai 

Just a few minutes walk from downtown Elon, North Carolina and Elon University, Simply Thai provides students, locals, and visitors with a Thai option that is, to put it simply, fantastic. The impressively decorated restaurant creates a modern ambiance for those who are dining out. Simply Thai also has a prompt take-out service. Simply Thai's notable presentation of dining space and food make it a perfect place to celebrate birthdays, special occasions, and holidays. They are open for lunch from 11:00am-3:00pm every day except Saturday, when lunch is not offered, and open for dinner 5:00pm-10:00pm Monday-Saturday and 5:00pm-9:00pm on Sundays.

Simply Tai is well known for not only their authentic Tai options but Sushi as well. Those who work their explain they "serve wide varieties of chicken, duck, steak, seafood and also vegetarian entrees specially prepared to your desire". Their variety of appetizers, Tai Noodle soups, Tai soups, and Tai salads are a great addition to any of the fabulous entrees. All of Simply Tai's signature entrees begin as a vegetarian meal, and then the customer is given a choice of adding Tofu, Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Duck, or Seafood. Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, The Boba House is 100% vegetarian friendly! The menu is inspired by traditional Vietnamese and Thai cuisine and most items can be made vegan or gluten-free. Some of the popular dishes are Stir-Fried Green Beans, Oriental Rice. Boba House is open Monday-Friday 11:30am-3:00pm & 5:00pm-9:30pm and Saturday 12:00pm-9:30pm, but is closed on Sunday.

Angelina's Kitchen serves everyone who is vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free! The mission of Angelina's is to serve healthy, affordable, in season, and local food to its customers. Vivace is a top notch italian restaurant on 4209 Lassiter Mill Road, Suite 115 in Raleigh, NC. There is another location in Charlotte, NC. They have menus specific to people who desire vegetarian, pescetarian and even gluten-free food. They also are happy to serve you vegan options upon request. Some of their best vegetarian dishes are Caprese made with mozzarella and roasted tomatoes, and Bucatini, which is heirloom tomatoes, basil, garlic, parmesan, and chili flake. For vegetarians, not pescetarians, they have a variety of seafood. They serve a grilled salmon chop, with fregula de sardi, lemon crema, cucumber, red onion agrodolce, and local grouper, with semolina gnocchi and piccata. Some gluten free options are Tuscan Bean Ragu which has clams, brodo di cotto, and calabrian chili, and risotto with day boat scallops, sweet onion-pancetta, and crowder pea vinaigrette. 

 

 

Sage Vegetarian Café

Sage Café has an exclusive vegetarian lunch and dinner menu, which includes a Feta-Spinach Wrap, Pasta Primavera, Vegetable Kabob, Gormeh Sabzi, Portofino, and many more delicious options. The café is known for its eclectic menu that is largely based on Persian dishes, as well as Italian and other cuisines. The Fiction Kitchen is a 100% vegetarian restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina. Their website seems to promote their "revolution" which consists of new healthy eating options in "the historic train depot and warehouse district which has been somewhat forgotten over time". It is also stated that they "plan to create a thriving, new culinary destination" in this area of Raleigh. Their goal is to break the predictability of vegetarian food with exciting, creative new options. Food Options

With simple appetizers, soups, and salads, each entree is very intricate. As mentioned before, The Fiction Kitchen works to try and create the most diverse dining experience for vegetarians as achievable. This includes using vegetarian, gluten free, or vegan products in order to mimic the typical meals enjoyed by many Raleigh locals, including BBQ and fried "chicken" dishes. Tai Herb offers a multitude of appetizers, followed by large Lunch and Dinner menus. Each item on the Lunch menu, whether it be stir-frye, rice and noodle plates, or curry dishes, begins as a vegetarian dish, and can be converted by adding Chicken, Beef, or Shrimp.
