Washington Park is near the intersection of Central Avenue and Westline Drive. It is the largest park in Alameda, and is next to the beach, so it is a popular destination for jogging, barbecuing, and other recreational activities. The southern end of the park is a beach bordered by the San Francisco Bay, and the northern end contains basketball courts, a baseball diamond, and some tennis courts. The western portion of the park becomes what is known as Crab Cove. There is a large parking lot on the eastern side of the park, off Westline Drive. Within the park is also a kid-friendly playground, a duck pond, and various trails, picnic tables, and barbecue grills.

Kite Wind Surf is also stationed along Westline Drive, right next to the park, so you can often see people windsurfing at the beach.

Also of note is an area designated for dogs on the east side of the park; one section is for small dogs, and the other is for large dogs. The small dog park has a website devoted to it here.
