The Ames localwiki was created so that the people of Ames can have a place to share their knowledge. It is paradoxical that as we enter into an  age of technology that it seems we know less and less about our community. As the Ames Tribune and local news outlets continue to decrease in viewership it is important that the people of Ames have a place where they can learn about what is happening in Ames in a constructive way.

While most websites and news outlets are static, this website is open. Anyone is allowed to post their local knowledge about Ames. We encourage users to write thorough pages that will be helpful and informative to others. We also encourage users to collaborate on pages. If you have an interesting fact that you think would go well on a page, add it! If you see the opportunity for a sweet picture of a place in Ames, snap a picture! Even if you just see a mispelled word, correct it! 

To make sure that everyones voice is heard, we discourage the deleting of any information unless it is rude or outright wrong. As a general rule, interesting things stay; bad content gets cleaned up, expanded upon, improved, or removed.
