On the morning of Friday, 20 January 2023, a fire broke out in the building that housed Vape City and Madras Masala on the 300 block of Maynard Street. The fire destroyed both stores, which were a total loss. No one was injured in the fire, and it did not spread to adjacent buildings.

The building address was originally 330 Maynard Street, but the storefront was divided into 326 Maynard Street and 328 Maynard Street at some time post-1995.
