Andy Gulvezan died Sunday February 14th 2010 while in the care of Arbor Hospice of complications from a bone marrow transplant to treat a recurrence of leukemia.
Andy Gulvezan was an Ann Arbor restaurant and bar owner and downtown property owner. At various times he has owned the Full Moon, The Flame, the Crow Bar and the One Eyed Moose.

As to why he decided to change the Full Moon to the Monkey Bar and back again, Gulvezan, sixty-five, says, "It's a long story. I changed [the name] about three years ago, but things didn't work out. I had a lot of health issues." They were pretty serious health issues, but he is feeling better these days and happy to be back at work tweaking his restaurants.

Gulvezan, Andy Longtime Ann Arbor proprietor passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010. Born Andrei Chris Gulvezan, Andy became involved in the Ann Arbor restaurant business when he and a partner opened the Whiffle Tree. After that he opened Gypsy, which became the Armadillo Country Club and Truck Stop in Ypsilanti before returning to Ann Arbor where he opened the Full Moon. Since then he has had numerous establishments- City Grill, One-eyed Moose, Crow Bar, Crush, Monkey Bar, Blue Wolverine Sports Bar, Liberty Bar, Flame, Alley Bar-and had been the landlord to many others. Although he was called by some "Mr. Ann Arbor" he maintained strong ties to his family homeland, Romania, where he met his wife, Magda. Andy was not only an Ann Arbor businessman-he was a good friend and will be missed by many. Andy was the beloved husband of Magda, beloved father to Oriana and Kristofer, dear brother of Michael (JoAnn), and Maggie (Frederick) Tonks, dear uncle of Leslie Tonks and son of the late Helen and Andrew Gulvezan. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 17th from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Avenue, Ann Arbor. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 18th at 12 noon at the First United Methodist Church, 1200 N. Ann Arbor Street, Saline, MI. 48176. Donations in lieu of flowers, suggested to the church.
