History
from their web site:
Opening in 1984, above the Heidelberg Restaurant as the Mainstreet Comedy Showcase, the intention was to provide live comedy shows featuring the best of the rising young stars in the comedy business. In 1987, the Mainstreet Comedy Showcase moved to our current location on Liberty, below Seva Restaurant. In January 2001, the club got new owners, a new name, a new logo and showroom renovations. In October 2014, the club moved to its current space in the old Montgomery Wards building on South 4th Avenue. You may recognize some of the big stars that have performed on their stage, such as Tim Allen, Drew Carey, Rosie O’Donnell, Joe Rogan, Chris Titus, Ellen DeGeneres, Soupy Sales, Paula Poundstone, Elayne Boosler, Rita Rudner, Father Guido Sarducci, and John Heffron.
