More information

His career has taken him through Chicago and Canadian transit systems. Now 50, he's the new general manager of the Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority, a job he started March 13.

Although Jackson has only held this position since March of 2006, he is certainly not new to the profession. Prior to his arrival in Macon, Jackson served for a year as General Manager of the York Region of Ontario, Canada’s Bus Rapid Transit Project, where he directed the design, building, and start-up of their bus rapid transit system. From 2003-2005, Jackson was General Manager of the Chicago Transit Authority’s Transit Operations Control Center and oversaw the movement of all city buses and trains. Before Chicago, he spent 26 years with the New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority/Long Island Railroad, where he served as Director of Market Development, Director of Leisure Travel, Transportation Manager, and several administrative, operating, and supervisory positions. He began his transit career with the Long Island Railroad as a ticket collector in 1976. As you can see, we are in very good hands.
