The Ginsberg Center embodies one of the University of Michigan's greatest legacies: community service. Established in 1996, Ginsberg is one of the largest, most comprehensive service-learning centers in the nation. Each year, close to 1,900 U-M students take part in at least one of our programs. We also support faculty teaching service-learning courses, students seeking community service experiences and student organizations involved in the community. We are named in honor of U-M alumnus Edward Ginsberg, whose life exemplified the values of community involvement and active citizenship.

The center coordinates efforts with the University of Michigan's programs in Detroit and with Americorps service work.
