When did you first realize that you would become a cake designer? 

I started making cakes in art school as part of my thesis.  I wasn’t sure that cake would be my path until I assisted Courtney Clark of Cake Nouveau in a series of Food Network Challenges.  Meeting other cake designers from around the country was invigorating, and even as they warned of long hours and financial hurdles, I started fantasizing about making cakes full time.
