An Eastern Michigan University administrator for 34 years, Vick was forced to retire after the Laura Dickinson scandal.
In July 2008, the Ypsilanti Public Schools Board of Education voted 6-1 not to hire Vick for a vice-principal / athletic diector position, despite the recommendations of a hiring committee and community support and with little discussion.
